I'm a bit late with this but we've recently completed 10 years of professional football in NZ.

Who remembers the hype around the first game?

Who was there? .... News I guess

Who remembers the player ratings for that game ... OiOi

Who would be our best ever 11? .... Wynton would have to be in there

Who's been to the most games? ..... Urion maybe or would News have been to more?

Whats the best goal you've seen?

Who's our most hated player?

I wasn't at the first game, it was just after Junior News was born and we were trying to deal with parenthood for the first time.  My first game was Wollongong 30th october.

The other a chance for most game is Nightz, but with 7 seasons in Auckland people who attended every one of those (and there are a few) probably have more than those of us that travelled.

Goal was Wynton against Newcastle United.

I've got a mate whose nickname is Shagger. You might think that's pretty cool, but she does't like it.

Buffy, van Steeden? Seriously?

I have some fond memories of watching the Kingz in Auckland around 2002-2004 (and constantly being ribbed at work being the only local football fan there).

Ngata was class and Hay was a step above when he came back from the UK to play.

I still have a Kingz shirt tucked away somewhere, and a treasured possession is a Christmas Card signed by every squad player that season ticket holders got one year.

Unlikely to be me News, missed to many games in the first 2 seasons (think I attended 9 from memory in those 2 seasons). Urion would be a good choice as he lived in Auckland for a number of those Kingz/Knights seasons.

Cant remember 1st game

Fav goal was scored by Harry, all 29 of them.

Best 11:

Utting

Middleby

Durrante

Sigmund

Vicelich

Brown

Mennillo

Wynton

Ifill

Smeltz

Ibrahim

Bench:

Paston

Sir Harry (highest goal scorer for a NZ pro team)

McKain

Daniel

Hear here. I reckon Gordy would have been to the most games too... he did a lot of away trips with The Kingz as well as nearly all the home games as I recall.

Favourite song: We all love our Dennis Ibrahim... (only just ahead of Ric Le aroc leading Twist and Shout)

"How do you spell referee?" froM Russ the Muss still makes me smile.

Best goal - I remember one at Mt. Smart that Soupy campbell hit from about 35 yards that was still rising when it hit the roof of the net at the western end. No one could believe it...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Yeah I was at most of those games in the Bloc to start with but ended up upstairs ground announcing.
I remember a cracking strike from Jonathan Perry - absolutely magic - still think the best goal scored by an NZ pro team was Wyntons swivel at the hip finish v Newcastle over there - say what you like about the man but he was a genius on the field.

Completely agree, that goal was amazing, let the ball travel past him then turn 270 degrees to volley it into the goal. Have a video of it somewhere, think I ripped it off the WYNRS site.

I was at that first game... can still remember the fireworks (very loud!!!) and Phil Collin's "In the Air Tonight" just before the players came out vividly.

Saw nearly every Kingz and Knights home fixture up until Nov '06, including games south of the Bombays.disco_mart2010-07-26 12:38:34

That Wollongong match is still the best match of football i have seen in this country. Finished 3-2 to us after being down twice in the match, Rufer won it on his own, pure class even at 40.

That Ngata hat trick, i think it was 4 goals in the end in a 4-1 win over Northern Spirit. It put us briefly at the top of the table for about 24 hours.

Three for me, and two for them.
