I've always thought that a book on the history of pro football in New Zealand would be a rollicking good read
I'm all about the new media Jimmy.
Error.

I might have a bit of stuff/vids floating around that I picked up on a couple of trips to Auckland.
I would give my left nut for one of those strips.
It's not that I want your left nut or anything.. but, I've got a lot of Kingz shirts at home Guym that I might be willing to part with. Not that one, but a good selection. Maybe we could drink some scotch sometime and review if any of them take your fancy?

Yes, yes we should do all of that. Also I want to interview you for 15 Years AND we need to talk about chants and stuff...maybe this week?

Okay, let's see how good the memory is...
Back row: Geoff (Robin's husband), ?, Streee-eetched to the Limit, Nola, ?,?, Ejit?, nightz, ?
Front row: Ally, Dion , ? Andy Spirite, ?, ?, Stack
That's all I can fill in.
There are a few more.
Were you there? It was against Qld i remember that much. Think we lost 2-0.
...in Brisbane.
Not the first season - but I've got the programmes for 1st and last games 2006/7
.... and on the back of the final programme is Brockie's signature! Tragic.
Suspect I have those as well. That last one was Junior News' first A-League game.

His first - and Auckland's last.
Apart from Phoenix visits.

You're Brockie's mum?
Are you going to include AW support ie South Africa, Bahrain, Melbourne etc
What?
actually yeh, I'd include the fans who went to Confeds in France in 2003 in your storyline Smithy... was a number of Bloc 5 crowd, and a huge bunch of rabid Wharfies fans also appeared at the France game in Paris... results were awful, but it was a great week
Shane Pryce!
What a player!

You in there HN? Anyothers of the current YF crew?
Nope. There are a couple of earlier ones I was involved with but not that one.
On first look I thought that guy on the right of the back row had a shocking mohawk.

Who played for the Kingz each year?

I was at Suncorp and there was a pretty good crowd and you are right they were far slower than the Roar. Knights had a goal disallowed.
Looking for highlights on YouTube served up this gem of a TV advert. This is what the Phoenix are doing wrong, they need an ad of this quality.
So that's why no one went
So that's why no one went
Lots of people went.
Smithy,
Some interesting information you could gleen from interviews
Rex Dawkins sponsorship years 2 -5 (wore canterbury strip the 1st season).
Mr G's shirt collection (Auckland guys cold help you track him down)
If the players ever wondered if they would be stranded in OZ with not enough money to get home due to clubs lack of $$
What really went on at the pondrosa - house shared by Utting, de gregorio and Stu Jacobs
Bloc 5 song book, yes they had one they gave out at a Wgtn game.
How good of a coach/player was Wynton.
Dennis K thoughts on Kids Kingz tv programme.
I'm not really going for the hard hitting expose..."the truth behind the Kingz" or anything like that.
More capturing the vibe of it, the emotions, and getting a few of the key people on camera to share their stories. It won't be investigative journalism that's for sure.
But, some good points in there and I'll keep them in mind for sure. Harry Ngata said at one point that Wynton and Shane were coaches who were light years ahead of what he'd had elsewhere.
All right than
I do suggest you talk to Mr G, he's a legend

When you see some of the stuff Wynton did as a player at the Kingz it's obvious why he was Oceania player of the century
Agreed, huge impact when he put himself on the field
I remember interviewing Ivan Vicelich when he was at Roda - he said it took him less than a week there to realise everything the Rufers were doing was exactly what happens in Europe... whereas back in NZ they were getting slagged off...
Who remembers the first ever Kingz game when Wynton had the pitch marked out extremely narrow on both sides? Corners were nearly going out on the other side on the full
Malik Buari! (Probably best ever Knights goal)
Great times...

He's the man.
If Ric and Michael weren't so very low profile on the internets they would be first on our list for a chat. Trying to get hold of them.

He passed away in the last 12 months unfortunately.
