I'm from Auckland. I like the fact there is the occasional game in Auckland as it is very rare I can get to Wellington for a match (years actually). However if there are only going to be 2 home games this year I think Wellington deserves them both, even if a one off at Eden Park might get a better crowd.
It's important the team keeps a Wellington identity and after playing in red in Wollongong, now is surely the time to remind the Wellington fans it is their team. It is Wellington based fans that are most important to the long term sustainability of the club and as soon as its marketed as the 'NZ Phoenix' surely lots of Wellington locals will not care as much.
Wellington based fans have been great passionate supporters for over a decade, and as much as I'd like a game in Auckland to attend that passion deserves some pay back and loyalty from the club in return.
