Hey guys
Any idea when the fixture list is expected out.
Living up in Auckland (I'm sorry), determined to get a YF season ticket and fly down for home games, came down for 2 games last season and caught the bug

Latest advice I've seen from club is Tony P's comment a few days ago;
"August 15 will be start with the GF 1st week in March 09. Breaks for Fifa windows as well. Pre-season will start in July and we will tour China in June (tbc)."
With the number of teams for next season settled hopefully the draw shouldn't be too far away.
Awesome support flying down from Ak for the games.

Well that's the idea, now that there are 3 airlines, shouldn't be needing to rely on grabaseat. Work might let me have a day in the Wellington office for the friday/sunday night games- there are far too many of those by the way
Why can't they realise noone cares about the NPC and just shunt them to the rubbish dates

As we assume we're playing you lot twice in season 4, the general concensus amongst the Tards Touring Party is we'll be over for the second of the two fixtures.
See you then, and mine's a pint!

does anyone know if august 15 will be a home game to us as we started at home last season?
Permalink
Permalink
I don't think where our first game last season was will have any bearing on where it is this season would it? I assume they just schedule each seven round block in a way that works rather than reversing the venues of last seasons games (so we play Melbourne away then CCM and Sydney at home then Newcastle away).
Permalink
Permalink
Also, we wouldn't necessarily have the Aug 15 fixture - could easily be 16 or 17.

Sure hope the home and away is a bit more regular than last season. We had that spell mid way though when we six games where five of them were away games. My six year old nephew could have done a better schedule than that!!!!!
Its would be good to get into the pattern of every second week, a home game at the ROF.

That's harsh. There are often many hidden factors that impact on the scheduling. With the A-League clubs being mostly (all?) ground tenants rather than owners, it's particularly tricky. That was the projected reason for the home games out of Wellington thread.
Anyway, at the end of October there are two consecutive weekends where the U17 Womens World Cup have the Stadium and someone (Feverish?) mentioned that at least one of the weekends either side of that is pre-booked for some rugby thing. Hence, we will probably get another consecutive spell of away games. No big deal really - just means we'll get a nice run of home games too.

in an ideal world, I'd much prefer a regular fortnightly home match - those runs of three away games in a row are a bit tough - for us fans and the players (well, the Kiwis in the squad anyway)
Permalink
Permalink
Me too tigers, but it's not going to be that easy. Still, perhaps they'll let us use the stadium on the same weekend as the U17s - though on different days of course. The U17s have it on Thur 30 Oct, Sun Nov 2, Tue 4 Nov and Sat Nov 8. The U17s are playing two games each day, so I guess it depends on whether the pitch can take it if we use it on, say, Sat Nov 1.

The first fixture im looking forward to this season is the YFSLP (assuming we have one- I know Boycie is keen)

I'm pretty sure that FIFA will require 'unique' use of the ground for the duration of the competition SiNZ.

Only 2 games? Part-timer
After winging my way up and down the country last season I decided that I might as well buy a season-ticket for 2008, so you'll have some company on the flights.
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Tony P; any update on when the 08/09 fixture list will be out and season tickets will go on sale ?

I emailed the A League asking when the 2008/09 fixtures list will be out, their reply was;
The fixture schedule will be available approx May 2008.
The Pre-Season Cup will commence mid July followed by the commencement of the A-League on 15 August 2008.
Looks like season tickets won't go on sale until May at the earliest.

Well boy's is there any possibility on us making it to Sydney for the preseason cup? I would love to see the boys away and i'm in Sydney or Brisbane depending on travel arrangements so that could tie in quiet nicely!!!

Love to see the whole pre-season cup live on Sky. Is that likely?

No, no matches from the pre-season cup have ever been televised. Don't see it changing.

They could have some sort of half-decent weekly show that rounds up and shows highlights of each round??
