Okay.  As discussed elsewhere the process for the Scholarship for this year is as follows:

1. Votes from you, our members, are open now until the middle of February.  We'll give some notice of the exact closing date closer to the time.

2. Following voting we will narrow the contestants to a shortlist of THREE from which Ricki Herbert, Tony Pignata and I will select the eventual winner.

The winner will spend a week training with the Phoenix in April when they come back from pre-season.  Yellow Fever will sponsor their travel, accommodation and kit for the week.

Thanks to the Phoenix, Ricki and Tony in particular, and our sponsors for supporting this annual initiative.

Smithy.

I forgot to mention that a comedy nomination of Stefan was rejected by the Scholarship committee (me) but I did first go and watch him play lunch time footy today to confirm his unsuitability.

As it turns out he's not even a decent ballboy.

He nominated himself then ?

Unlike last year we will be keeping a close eye on this to avoid a thousand new users all with mystery aliases.  IP addresses can be checked.

Indeed.  If a contestant is getting cheating votes we will disqualify him/her.  So keep it real folks.

I also forgot to mention that two other nominations were rejected because the Committee (not just me this time) felt that the players nominated were too young.

We'll keep tabs on them for future Scholarships.

I only know Marco Rojas, but I'm giving my vote to the girl. I think that if anyone might show the most improvement, the lass might because not only is it a step up in standard, its a step up with the men which she is very unlikely to get anywhere else.
That will be a massive learning curve over a week which I am sure she will benefit from

Marco Rojas is the one. You just need to look at what he is doing in the NZFC at 17. Played a few games for Hamilton Wanderers at end of last year. This boy is real quality.
