No such thing as a permit anymore. 1: You get a residence visa with two year travel conditions 2: After two years if you meet certain criteria (usually time spent here) you apply for permanent residence 3: After 5 years of holding your first residence visa (see one above) comes citizenship

The amount of Wellingtonian natives I know I can count on both hands, most people are from out of town here - don't know what Junior is on about. Maybe its just where I work and who I know, if you go to school here I expect you would know plenty.

As a f*cking Wgtn b@stard myself if I used the fingers on my hands that would be 17 (I'm assuming my webbing doesn't make them all 1).

Must try harder

If Paul Ifill can't get granted citizenship on the spot for simply being an awesome person who makes this country a better place then there's something not right with the world.

I love Paul Ifill.

KDC isn't a New Zealand citizen either though. That's why he can't stand for parliament.

No, people are locals to Devonport, Mt Eden, Te Atatu... not to "Auckland". The Super City exists more as a wish than a reality yet.

Which only confirms that Auckland is a collection of eighteen separate villages linked by a sewer, while Christchurch is a city where the four ships have never left.

One of the things that binds Aucklanders together is the knowledge that they're universally mocked by everyone else. NZ football supporters should be able to relate to this.

Just to confirm from about 10 posts ago, Ifill will need another 5 years before getting citizenship.

I doubt he'll be in the reckoning for a place in the squad by then...

If Harry Redknapp was running the show, Ifill would most definately be in a prime position for a contract in 5 years time.

I reckon he will end up playing for Tee Dubs and be an option as an injury replacement if we lose a visa player to a long term injury.

Guest players are not included in your 5 visa spots but its very unlikely he would meet the FFA's requirements for a Guest player.

There are requirements? What are they? If fred counted I can't see why Ifill couldn't.

I think it would be hard to have him as a 'guest' when he has played for us over the last however many years. I thought the principle of the guest spot was to get a player in for a game that would attract interest. To be fair to Paul, I'm not sure he quite fits that bill anymore.

Had forgotten about Fred's guest stint. He was a former A-League player of the year, so maybe that was taken into account.

From the previous CBA

During the A-League season, a Club may have one Guest Player that sits outside the Player Roster.  A Guest Player must be a Player of significant international reputation who will attract interest, media and fans to the A-League and not simply a mechanism in order to bolster the Player Roster of a Club, to be determined by the FFA using the following criteria:

(a) the number of appearances for a national representative team or selection in a national training squad;

(b) experience in international football leagues, including the number of years, the number of appearances, the standard of the league and the recency of the experience;

(c)  the international profile of the Player and his potential marketability for the club and the A-League;

(d) the value of the Player's most recent contract; and

(e) any other factor considered by the FFA to be relevant.
