Well I read somewhere (on stuff?) that they have a bit of dosh to spend from the Burns sale, they have also said that they knew that burns was going for a while, and that Powell isn't the number one striker. So you have to expect they are in advanced negotiations with a few biggish fish.

I am absolutely stoked that the silence is deafening.

Only bad things can come from rumours leaking out.

Either we do have something in the pipeline in which case silence is fantastic - until it is signed, sealed and delivered. Or we don't have anything in the pipieline, in which case silence is also the best thing, because it prevents false hopes being raised.

The club's record with signings since Ernie had control of it is bloody good.

Relax.

How has Andrew Blake gone in pre season?

Rory Fallon, the poor man's Peter Crouch.

Not many target men in the A-League, a Plan B weapon - Fallon has a great mellon - scoring from corners may improve?

Still in his early 30's, scored for most clubs he has represented,

could pick up Kevin as technical advisor and youth development officer in a double package deal. God bless.

I don't mind Fallon. Doesn't fit our system... too broken and prone to odd ball comments, but could do a job in the right team.

ADL UTD at 6's and 7's with Gombau walking - Nip in and stick our hand up as a stable well coached well run club?

I dunno about us seeming stable - no sign of that license extension yet

Pellegrini's been sacked. Ernie Merrick's off to coach Man City.
Ricki's making a comeback, on the back of the publicity from that polarising article.

The line-up will be:

                                                                                                  Paston
                                                                                    (coming out of retirement)

                                                                      Sigmund             Vicelich             Durante

                                                  Fenton                   McGlinchey                 Lia        TONY LOCHHEAD

                                                                      Killen              Nick Powell     [Rory] Fallon

Manny Muscat is the only other contracted player - because he can fill most positions so that's all you need.

If anyone's unavailable they'll travel with 11 - cos then you don't have to deal with subs and nobody's Dad will ring up asking why their boy's not getting a run.

Everyone else is released.

Brockie will re-join in the transfer window, with Nick Powell released on a free transfer.

Is it two or three knee reconstructions now? His pace was all that set him apart, gotta wonder how much is left now.

No wonder I saw tweets about their still being a bar tab. You were supposed to spend at least half of it on Dome and lubricating the honesty wheels.

I have a great deal of confidence in our owner's business acumen and commitment to the Nix and Ernie's eye for spotting and recruiting   talent but:

- we're down Burns, Cunningham and Brockie/Griffiths (4 current or past international) and have made just one signing that may or may not workout

- we're trying to recruit in to a club that, as things stand, is playing it's last season (what proven player with decent market value would sign up to that?)

It's long past time the license renewal was sorted and about time we saw some action on the recruitment front. Personally I can't see the later happening until the license extension is confirmed.

It's all well and good managing expectations but take them too low and supporters will disengage.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Maybe we are waiting for the 'marquee' rule change? Rumours are that the FFA are going to allow a second international marque spot, I assume replacing the Australian one. Not that we would buy a true marquee but it would allow us to spend more on the player we want.

Can dream big.

Surely we have Vinie, Dura, Siggie, and Muscat outside of the cap due to the Archie Thompson rule?

Ummm ok... you do know who owns the Nix I presume? Their business backgrounds, and what would have happened if they didn't step up when Terry was waiting on his doorstep for a cheque from Western Gulf... that never came.
