If you consider how well Ramon has done with Auckland City, I am curious that Adelaide City (who are clearly only employing Spanish coaches) have not yet made him an offer.

Or maybe they did, and he said "this lot won't make it to the Club World Championship Finals".

you mean united? City is a state league team.

Of course United, apology.

I am old enough to still think of Sergio Melta and Charlie Villani when I think of Adelaide.

I'm sure Adelaide City could do better than United in the HAL right at this present moment.

He has torn an ankle ligament, out until at least February

Ryan Griffiths just got released - perhaps a chance? Never really rated him though. Just released from Sarawak in the Malaysian league after scoring 30 in 50 games.

Not sure if he would pass the "No Dicks" eligibility threshold.

If Joel Griffiths passes it, then so does Ryan Griffiths.

I'm sure Joel can put in a good word. If we get Ryan then we should be looking at Adam next year. Just so we can say we've had the complete set.

What's he done on the level of his brother? J.Griffiths redeemed himself somewhat, think R.Griffiths is okay.

Against MV next Saturday night? With Kosta, Finkler and Berisha in good form?

You betcha.

But as long as the AKL-ers turn up in numbers, it will be a great night.

But apparently Rachel won't be there, she has other plans...... darn.

I know this wont be us but the sugar hit from that kinda guest stint would really help with the metrics. Could be tempting for WelNix?

No... but yes.

He'll go to Brisbane and stuff up their game (if he goes anywhere) I reckon.

Coincidence this has been leaked a few hours before  the FFA presser?

Anyway, no thanks. Thought we were past these sorts of guest stints.

Ultimate A-League mentioned this on their podcast they released yesterday, so its not entirely new.

Guest stints are outside the salary cap, squad & visa restrictions. They are now able to be 14 weeks long also

Definitely the sort of signing which will restore credibility to the A League....

From May this year:

Mexico: Ronaldinho looking for a new club amid more lifestyle allegations at Querétaro. In January fitness coach Roberto Bassagaisteguy told local media Ronaldinho had a tailored regime because “as a rule he does not do physical exercise - I cannot make him run because he doesn’t like it. There are many things he doesn’t like.”

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/02/sa...

From October this year:

Brazil: Ronaldinho, leaving Fluminense after nine games, then rolling his car into a ditch. Brother and agent Robert de Assis says the mood remains upbeat. “We’re studying the offers that are coming in. Will he retire? Are you crazy? You’ll have more surprises yet.”

We might get more success with any up and coming young gun in the Australian lower leagues trying to get noticed and move up to the big time - there is always some movement there after the FFA Cup finishes.

So how much game time are Powell, Danaskos & Fox getting currently?

Time to get someone ready to slot straight into the starting line up.

Permalink Permalink

True. I have not seen Danaskos at all.

However I would rate Powell as so far useful, if unspectacular.

Unfortunately the same can be said about Sarpong, who is a visa player.

I'd hate to say it but the last state league player that we signed that actually turned out to be any good was Manny and that was many many moons ago.

Might be time to ignore those leagues and look more in our own back yard (NZ), which thankfully has been happening a fair bit over the last 3/4 years.

So if Sarpong doesn't show dramatic improvement this month, do we consider telling him he is free to look elsewhere in the world this January, in the hope he heads back to Holland?

I had high hopes for him but have been far from impressed and to be frank he doesn't look a happy camper

Would free up an import spot, some coin and maybe we can get lucky in the window?

Maybe someone finishing up in Japan/Korea who is on the market?

Sarpong is a poor replacement for King Kenny, let alone Burns.

I think it's time to admit that Sarpong isn't up to it and move on. Unfortunately if we pay him out to leave, AFAIK it's still counted under the cap?

In terms of player hype to actual performance ratio; Sarpong might be our most disappointing signing ever?
