So it's a two year deal?

I guess there is a potential residency status change on the horizon for Roy - so he would eventually free up a visa spot.

(Ronaldo just has to wait till then)

I've asked before and no one knows the answer it seems - but does anyone know about Riera's citizenship situation? I read somewhere once that he might get his citizenship in Feb next year.

Heard from a sauce across the ditch that Brett Holman is keen on Wellington...

Is he any good?

Is he any good?

I rate Brett Holman for his past exploits in the Netherlands and for Australia (including his 2010 WC performance) but am not sure what he is like now at 31, especially what injuries he might have had recently. But he was generally considered likeable (not a dickhead).

If there is any truth in this rumors then I would be happy to give him a go if he is fit and healthy.  He is not a striker though, he has always been more of a Roly Bonevacia style player (excellent long-distance goals).

Do we need another not-a-striker? I would have him here if the price is right. And we would get more respect from FFA too.

Looks like one of the worst players to ever lace up in this video.

Yes this looks like a game for him to forget.

This is way more recent (and Holman improved hugely after the 2010 WC):

Seems like someone Ernie can convert to a striker. Marques material?

Holman had/has a great work rate - think he could be a good replacement if A-Rod goes. Also doesn't take up an import spot. Would take him.

would take him in mid, too slow to convert to striker.

Is he better than Roly/ A-rod?

Importantly will he be wanting marquee wages? Does he want to come here?

With A-rod, Riera, Roly, and Mikey, well backed up by Ridenton, Rufer and Louis, I wouldn't have thought that our mids were our weakest spot.

Would he fit Ernie's game plan?

Possibly, but not at the risk of a lopsided squad. On the other hand- get a quality player in while you can and sort out the details later.

I suspect though that we won't have any opponents with the overall quality of the Dutch national team in the A-league.

Reports are that Holman wants a play in the A League and a few clubs are named as being interested. The Phoenix are not one of them. He is a Sydney boy so expect he will end up at either SFC or WSW

They play different roles, he is a wide striker / #10. Aussie fans reckon he is a better #10, so would be competition for Wee Mac rather than Roly/A-Rod.

Another re-signing I assume.

Yep, looks like re-signing players is going full steam ahead now our licence situation has been sorted.

Violates the no cocks policy on an epic scale. Clearly declining and just looking for one last paycheck. Imports who haven't played A League before are a gamble.

All in all, a very underwhelming signing.

Two more years for McGlinchey. He wants another title with the Nix. http://www.wellingtonphoenix.com/article/mcglinchey-re-signs-wants-another-title/e1n95l8fifwi10gf141cmrev0

He has won with the Gypsies.

Now that I think of it. I dont like his attitude much. Surely if youve just signed on for another two seasons you'd be keen to win the title twice not once.

Sack Wee Mac!

He clearly thinks winning one with the Nix would be more valuable than winning one with the Mariners.

Maybe he counts winning the title for 2 seasons in the Nix is the same as winning one elsewhere as we are just that great.

Does anyone know the contract situation with Themi Tzimopoulos?

He ticks a lot of boxes, including DM cover now that Manny has decided to leave.
