Hasn't roly mostly been quoted as saying he's loving life here, and is really happy about ernie playing him as more of an attacker?

He's also as been quoted as saying that he'll never leave until we win the championship... But then Ernie was quoted as saying that Rolly confirmed he'll be here for another season.

Opinions change.

who are the other interesting players that we're all hearing about or are they dependent on us getting immigration deals for Krishna and Riera?

Holman and Williams are probably two of them.

Holman, Williams and Roux signing would make for an interesting squad; along with perhaps an international defender to slot into the marquee spot.

How long is Roux out for though? That was a horrific injury and it could be a long rehab for him

I'm pretty weary about having a squad full of All Whites and Socceroos in the lead up to the world cup, even NZ will have games to play in international windows.

On the plus side, the annual NZ vs. AUS game could be finally played at the Westpac Stadium!

And this time it might be actually played as a friendly, without the usual malice gutsy commitment, or the WPX team doctor and the physio would read them the riot act.

Meh, that's fine imo - we want the best kiwis at the Nix.

Trouble is, the NZF being Numpties & clueless, are likely to organise games (Or a training camp) against powerhouses like Western Samoa right when the A League determine we should be playing league games and we lose half of our squad as a result.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Exactly, and if you look how tight this season is, a dropped game because you have players from your reserve team in your first squad could make the difference between a home playoff or not.

With Ange picking more and more A-League players for the national team the FFA have to do something about international windows. Even reschedule games mid week if you loose more than three players. One of the reasons Sydney dropped Marc Janko was apparently because they lost him for international windows which makes the return on investment worse. If you want to attract current internationals with the new marquee policy then you have to break as well, I'd imagine Sydney would still be in the 6 if Janko was on board rather than Holosko, and we all know the FFA love Sydney.

See the difference?  As soon as the licence extension was granted, we already all started sounding like Arsenal supporters.

Sorry, but we can't b*tch about this when other teams can't even have kiwis as non-imports. Other teams lose players to the Young Socceroos etc. as wel

That's a fair comment, but in terms of ghee overall impact on the league they should change it. As Ryan said above, Sydney didn't renew Janko's contract because they were sick of their marquee missing games because he was off playing for Austria. It makes current international players less appealing as signings because they will miss games. Surely the league wants current internationals over washed up semi-retirees.

And I started bitching about our recruitment because of the rules of the league and then started bitching about the league.

If NZ professionals like Roux are getting game time at other teams then I think they should stay there if we have alternatives, because we loose them for the international windows. There are some players like Kosta and WeeMac that are of good enough quality that it's worth having them even though we loose them for a couple of games a year, but if possible I'd rather All Whites play in other clubs and competitions that also leads to more New Zealanders as pro players.

Still having Kiwi internationals playing together is good for the AWs....

So, to paraphrase, you are saying I'd hate it if our team was full of the best players in  New Zealand and Australia

We only get 5 imports, the vast majority of the team has to be NZ and Australian anyway. Having major problems at international windows would merely be a sign that our team is decent.

I'd prefer our best players in Europe not at the nix. There's the fact that we will miss most of our team for a couple of games a year that could be enough to prevent a home semi. The fact that the a league isn't quite good enough to breed the sort of players we need to not only qualify but do something in a work's cup. If the nix have most of the good kiwis then it's hard for youngsters to show their worth, and the more kiwis playing elsewhere the more that are on pro contracts.

We need a helluva lot more than Kosta to get anywhere next season.

After tonight's debacle you are not far  wrong Steve-O,Ernie has his work cut out in the close season, starting with Greenacre right through to Italiano major clear out needed if they are serious about being contenders !!
All too cosy cosy from top to bottom at the Nix just now !!

I've watched MV quite a bit and I feel like Finkler is on a bit of a downward swing - though the team in general is, so who knows.

I guess it continues our tradition of picking up disgruntled and/or cast away MV players  haha

It's still a week and a bit to April Fool's Day, so jizzing in a circle about this alleged signing may be, well..... premature

Usual story though - form is temporary, class is permanent.  I think he would be an exceptional pickup for us to organise our front third.

Ability to take good indirect free kicks does not usually diminish with age (remember ADP at Sydney?).  Finkler certainly used to be the best A-League free kick specialist in his heyday, easily better than WeeMac could ever be.

Would be nice to have a proper #10, I like Wee Mac but I prefer him in a wider role. Hope he turns out better than the last Victory #10 we had!

To be fair, they have all looked really rather shark in the second half of the season. Is Muscat wearing thin on the players?

Even when Finkler was at his best, he's got obvious weaknesses - no pace and 0 desire to track back being two.

I think we can do better, quite frankly.
