Well that was a waste of time... lots of new posts, no information, other than arguing about transfer/loan fees.

Newsflash: We won't be paying one.

I would say my balls my word but I already lost them previously :(

With regards to the transfer fee, any fee paid goes towards the salary cap doesn't it? I remember this being a possible stumbling block to the Phoenix having to pay the "compensation" suggested by the mediator in the Wee Mac saga. Indeed, I can't recall any A-League side paying a transfer fee, though I wouldn't be surprised if fees have been paid as paid of loan deals.

IIRC loan fees and, I asume, transfer fees are not going to count towards the cap again. The FFA want more Villas and Lampards than competitiveness.

I thought it was the opposite, not only are loan fees included but so is the parents clubs wages, this is to stop teams with relationships to other leagues getting around the cap by getting say Manchester City to buy players for you but loan them cheep.

Guest stints and marquee spots are for the Villa situation.

After the Troisi/Rogic loans by Victory, the FFA started including loan fees paid into the cap but have since signaled their intention to revert back to the previous ruling.

Off-field concerns = there's no way I'm signing for a club that's playing its last season.

The FFA and Nix owners need to get this sorted - months ago.

I think Wellnix are fantastic- but they do want to make a profit and no one is 100%...infratil after all are the people who put the hop card in auckland before the errr...hop card which had won the tender was due to go in...

hope I'm completely wrong, but a combination of the awesome Phoenix, FFA dicks and Sky, NZF etc etc who are also parties to all the money trail isn't an inspiring mix.

Hope I'm wrong. we had a great year- but Burns is a player of unusual quality and he was a difference.

No, they want the club to be self sufficient and break even not to generate a dividend.

These three might fit the wing forward thing:

Nikita Rukavystya

James Troisi

Tommy Oar

the latter two are currently Euro based. Any issues with the no dick heads policy?

Permalink Permalink

They're all okay. Troisi has had some pretty dickish haircuts, but that's about it.

The latter two would not come to us and Ruka isn't really good enough.

The "off-field concerns" which have been a stumbling block might also be nothing to do with the license issue - it could be players not wanting to shift to Wellington, or even them not being impressed by our infamous substandard training facilities, or something else entirely.

More than likely the statement refers to concerns about the player and their off-field antics, nothing to do with the Nix or Wellington.

Maybe the threat of seeing so much bare, untoned flesh at 80mins has put them off

Didn't ask.  I normally bully Domey about that and he wasn't at the Weenix game.

True, but Transfermarkt last priced him at 1.5 mil euro in February this year....I really hope he is coming here but that is still some deep pocket rumour

Ernie is looking for a Burns type, so I think Jeffrey Sarpong is a good call. Doesn't look like he's signed for Blackburn yet.
