Jacko, the olden day equivalent of Manny Muscat. A good hard man in the midfield.

he was ten times the player that muscat is, covered heaps of yards, tackled (hard), ran, passed and scored goals

These 6pm pre-season games are annoying.

Can't leave work early enough to make them ... bring back the 7pm starts of pre-seasons past, pretty please!

Starting line-up was something like

Moss

Fox, Durante, Liam Wood?, Doyle
Lia
A-Rod, Roly

Kosta, Gui, Katebian

6 or 7 nil at half time, twice off the crossbar. Not sure of the scorers. Definately one from Roly from distance, two penalties (one Gui one Kosta) from Kosta being brought down in the box twice. Miramar leftback will have nightmares for weeks. Gui may have scored twice.

Fenton in the midfield for Lia (A-rod to DM), Watson for Gui and someone replacing Kosta at halftime. Also Gulley at RB with Fox to CB. I left about 10 minutes later after about 6 of the academy players went on as I was freezing.

Thanks for that update. Sounds promising!

Miramar put out a 3rd string team, pritty disappointing for those who turned up in the cold expecting some sort of contest. Was over within 15mins. Really dissapointing from the club

6-0 after 36 minutes. Kosta and Finkler looked good. Slightly worried about the depth of those two are out, but plenty time to sign more players I guess. Both looked a class apart from the others, including Roly who seemed a bit rusty despite a nice goal.

Doyle goal was my favourite , nice layoff by this unknown guy and Doyle drilled it in. Some sweet moves from Gui and Kosta.

I was sure Finkler laid it off for Doyle?

Was a good goal.

I had hoped to get down to watch but got held up, so followed on twitter.  Shame to hear Miramar couldn't/didn't put out a better side.

YF twitter feed mentioned Khouchaba and Katebian for Nix.  Anyone know who they are and any comment on how they looked?

Cherbal Khouchaba, as mentioned previously, is a lad from Stop Out who looks like Justin Gulley's twin (same beard). Plays up front.

Kasabian are an English rock band from Leicester.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

So we are hitting up 20 year olds not from the Nix Academy

Wasn't super impressed with Katebian. His touch was pretty poor, gave away a lot of ball and wasn't willing to use his left foot at all. Hopefully he'll get another crack at some point, but wouldn't sign him on tonight's performance

I would have thought the Nix Academy players are on permanent trial

It would be pretty narrow minded to only look at kids in the Nix academy

He was playing left wing and then swapped part way through with Kosta to play on the right

Seems interesting, knocking about Premier League and Championship teams youth systems, plays for Cyprus but is an Australian citizen.

Not a whole lot of info about him though.

Also, not a defender.

Perhaps these "outsiders" might be better? Could be beneficial in 2 ways, we get better players and the academy guys realise this and raise their games up to the next level and compete.for the same starting positions.

Probably Liam Wood at CB next to Dura.

Why would you limit recruitment of young players to the academy solely ?

I see Greenie was taking the team. Was Ernie there as well? I guess there would be advantages for him just to be an observer.
