Maybe Taylor’s words were simply an expression of his strong desire to stay in the face of his clear need to go? Something unplanned that came out in the moment? Like that much better than it being brand protection.
All the talk of us waiting till January for new signings… with the November start date, is January actually going to be the mid season transfer window?
On Twitter, Pine is sticking by his story, telling people who criticise that they don't know Taylor like he does. Voerman also said that the club's account doesn't contradict Taylor. All the journos still seem convinced that the fault lies with WPFC here.
Anyone know if any of the New Zealand Players being mentioned in the media are actually being looked at? Or has Ufuk just discounted them because they are domestic players or haven't come through the academy. Seems a lot of people are rating them for at least worth a look at. Or is it a case of you have to playing overseas in any grade to even be considered!
Club must be seriously pissed to come out with a statement like this, not their normal style.

Voerman linked to the various articles and pretty much said make your own opinion.
Talay said that Taylor didn't ask for a two year extension, and didn't even have a one year extension - he came back on the same contract he broke to go to India, which was a two year contract.
That seems to contradict what Taylor said, so someone is lying.
Glory isn't signing castro. Worth a shout seeing as we're struggling for imports.
Does he violate the 'no dicks' rule? Seems like he's got a bit of a 'my way or the highway' attitude. That being said, it'd be nice if he stopped scoring against us...
I haven't heard te atawhai hudon-whihongi's name being bandied about. for a while there was talk of him coming back after playing half a season of northern league

I think he loves playing football and would listen to his coaching staff. He is however getting on more than a bit at 39 . We also have a decent attack, any new signing should be made at the back. I think that the lack of a definitive playmaker may actually work in our favour as there is no one player to target out of the game. Obviously in the first few games teams will target Reno but I think if Ufuk is smart and he will anticipate that, instructing the team that the primary outlet is Ball. Leaving Reno to roam and find space. Hooper and Waine should be more than capable of working off each other and adding finishing touches. Our issue this season, at least until the transfer window and then who knows, will be not shipping a naval strike groups worth of goals.

If Uffie wanted him, you'd think he'd be in Welly by now, getting up to A League level fitness.
I am very pleased the club broke silence to have their say. The media have run away with the slant that it was mostly the club's fault.
100%. Back the club they are investing in the team. Tough times with two season away from Wellington. Piney/Rollo/Andrew trying to shade the club, you can see the emotion the the writing.
Likely no. He's gone from Norwegian 2nd/3rd tier, to the Canadian league which is probably below USL in the US in standard.
Doesn't seem like he's even a regular starter at his club Valour (who have gone from league leaders after about 10 rounds, down to 6th of 8 teams), however they do often play 3 games a week, so some rotation going on no doubt. He's obviously rated as a pen taker!
Looks like Ben Old is going to get some serious game time when the A League season kicks off. He's a better investment than someone like Dyer you'd think. Is probably a few Dyer equivalents around the NSW NPL, that Talay could bring in as easy trialists once the team gets to Aus.
Maybe Oli Whyte will be the next to tread the somewhat proven, luck out in Europe, return to NZ domestic football, sign for the Nix - line. Aka Lewis & Payne. Even McGarry & Elliott to a degree.
Andre de Jong on a loan from AmaZulu would be worth a go. A year to go still on his deal in South Africa, but getting no game time there.
No way, very ordinary player, would have to sort out MIQ and from what I've heard from a source in Norway his attitude in training wasn't great at all and he was kinda along for the ride. He's liked at Valour but a pretty forgettable option considering what else is available.
George stanger released by Hamilton. Could be an option if he can get into Australia… Australia by far the easier route for hotel quarantine between the two countries currently.

Stanger ain't no Taylor replacement though. Good squaddie but I guess. I thought his performance at Olympics showed he really lacks game time right now.
Would be a pretty good depth signing in a position we're desperately in need of filling, always good to pick up Kiwis who have spent time in pro environments.
Olly White in a similar boat potentially, given he played for the Nix vs Olympic & his time previously in Turkey.
Before the Olympics I thought Stanger was better than Pijnaker.
After Olympics I changed my mind.
Thought he was class at the U20 World Cup, it’s definitely a match fitness thing.
I reckon he needs to pick up game time at a league one/league two side or even do a Michael McGlinchey and make a move to the A-League.
Pijnaker went into the Olympics with maybe even less match fitness than Stanger. From memory Stanger was involved in a howler with Woud against Honduras, which rocked the confidence of both.
A move to yes a League Two club for young George maybe on the cards. However is that much lower than the Scottish 2nd tier (Championship)?? But yeah a whole complete sea change, moving downunder and some sun on that pasty Scottish skin could be worth a crack for him. His dad met his Kiwi mum in a Sydney pub, which sounds touch more romatic than Wee Mac's birth on a Petone roundabout.
Speaking of Ollie Whyte trialing, anyone seen much of Haris Zeb playing for Miramar in the Central League? Seen fudge all of it this season in that league (I don't watch it) but was highly impressed when I saw him in the old Handy Prem with Team Welly. At 20yo and having played for some top teams in NZ surely he's worth a look?
Would Stanger be better than McGing? How do they compare would you say? I thought Stanger looked like he gave a damn at the Olympics. Coaching, experience and game time can’t give you that, but if you’ve got that it can make you a decent player.

Scottish 2nd tier arguably lower then League 2. Many Scottish Prem players only end up in League 1 when they head south.
Is it me or the communication this off season from the club is a bit strange.. the season is only a few weeks away, still no update as to what the plan is in terms of where to base themselves, no potential signings, and all we get given in the socials is throwback games, a few happy birthday posts for former players and a new sponsor for the reserve side? I mean that’s all well and good, but i think many fans would want an update from the club on far pressing matters, while we don’t have to know the full details and in’s and out’s, i think a general update will be appreciated. Is it just me? =)

Scottish Premiership players to League 1. Really?
This year: Edouard to Palace, Christie to Bournemouth, Ajer to Brentford, Oko-Flex to WestHam, Leo Hjelde to Leeds, Vincent Angelini to Watford, Olivier Ntcham to Swansea, Allan Campbell to Luton, Nathan Young-Coombes to Brentford, Dapo Mebude to Watford, Ali McCann to PNE. I strongly suspect you are English - and no, I'm not a Scot.

Not questioning those examples as they are good players but this screen shot from transfer market is a bit more explanatory:

Feel like both the younger players you mentioned and any Celtic/Rangers players don't count, as we know how good those teams are and talented youth can crop up anywhere to be poached from bigger clubs. In the lower half, we see plenty of teams sign English non-leaguers to get regular gametime, and return back to England at the same level. The league is obviously very imbalanced, and though there are arguably two EPL-level teams in there, lesser teams in the league are absolutely around League 2 level.
His other point about the Scottish Championship is correct - I'd put its level at around the National League overall. Rory McKeown was a regular at Championship club Morton after arriving from 7th-tier Warrington, then became a bit-part player for 7th-tier Leiston the following season before coming over here. Earlier in his career, he was a week-in-week-out regular for Raith, moved to League 2 Accrington and didn't play a single game the next season. Even just looking at loanees to all the Scottish Championship clubs, the majority of the English ones are players who have at maximum played two or three games in League One or Two.
Anyway, back on topic, yeah I'm 100% for Stanger. Better than McGing, would be a great experience for the kid

Excuse my ignorance as I don’t use transfermarkt very often, what is this showing?
Sorry if not very clear but this list shows where the majority of the transfers out of the SPL have gone this season (ie to lower level Scottish/English clubs).
