Gareth's interview on Newstalk ZB mentioned $48M for the build and ~$28M public money, so $20M to be raised from the private sector. I think this is a good despite the extra travel for some folks and there's going to be a new link road built from Grenada to Petone for the Kapiti/Porirua chaps. He also said they'd keep Westpac for the play offs and the one offs e.g. EPL etc, needing the extra seats to make financial sense. All we need now is the team to turn up unlike yesterday!

Pop over to the Mega and watch a match on way home, I'm warming to it.

I'll just pop up to Newlands tommorrow and get the digger loaded onto the truck and then over to Hutt Park.

Might have to do it mid morning when there isn't too much traffic.

Maybe the YF exec can organise a few weekend working bees to get it going?  This weekend should be god as the team are playing away so should be plenty of helpers.

Wait you made this mistake last time, it's at Petone Rec, not Hutt Park, make sure you head to the right place.

Quote me on this. I fucking love Gareth Morgan. You really have to hand it to the guy, when he has something he wants done, he goes out and does it. He sees all the good in football, the fact that it really is the biggest sport in the world and that NZ is a heavily under-utilised football nation. Most kiwis are contempt with fuckin rugby, but Gareth likes to dig a little deeper. If this happens I'll promise to never walk out at 0-4 down again.

I doubt this is commercially viable and I think the powers that be are bluffing. To give them credit it is a serious bluff in an attempt to play hard ball with Westpac. I wonder who will blink first

Could the nix base their training at the new stadium or possibly petone memorial/high around the corner from the new stadium.

No mistake, I think Wgtn needs more large holes.

*sigh* Petone it is then. Although I could do a quickie at Ngauranga on the way through (cash job only).

I don't see any issue with the Nix. FFA are getting the money they want from us, and they're looking closely at the academies we're setting up. The new stadium will be a good bargaining tool too if that goes ahead. That alone will send a strong message to FFA that the Nix are here to stay

Sorry but who walks out before full time, regardless of the score? I saw a few other punters doing the same thing but took them to be a casual fan.

Brilliant love it, Phoenix stadium 10 mins from home.  Plenty of street parking, two train stations nearby,  lots of pubs on Jackson Street and Petone Working Mans Club right next door on Udy Street.  Great!!!

That sounds like a great idea. A stadium at Ngaruanga is even better than Petone.

Go look at original plans for Waitangirua and Whitby.  The Whitby lower dam is built to hold a highway.
