Been waiting for that.

I suspect the man behind Panda Sport, he talks to Telfer each week about Sports websites around the world.  I tried the Audio Bank on the radiosport website for it today but it wasn't working.

Yeah, sorry if I intimated anything else.

He's usually quite a good listen and justifies his views and opinions well.

i did a google on best sports websites

First of all, I found some AC Nielsen research poll from September. Research just looked at website hits. Stuff and Herald sports sites had most hits (not surprisingly) - something like 180k per week. All Blacks.com was about 50k per week. But they did point out these figures were abnormally high due to RWC lead up. Golf.co.nz about 25k per week and vorb.co.nz (mountain biking site) was about 15k.

By comparison YF averages about 10-11k per week.

Second, I found their are some netguide awards every year. this year the website winner in the sport and rec category was vorb, followed by Allblacks.com and Kiwi biker (harleys, not mountain bikes). These were awarded in September.

Next year we need to crush all the above - Cnut, i hope you are reading this.

Stuff vs. YF

I can just see it...

You're right... Stuff ? They're rubbish (except the Dom Post section and anything Bruce Holloway writes for the Waikato Times - think that covers our members).

What we need is some mobile advertising solution... get the website and the fever out to the public.

1. Spraypaint
2. Use it on every single billboard (moving and stationary) in the lower North Island
3. Hide from the police, and blame in a circle...

You could put the fever's web address on the Mark II Retro Ricki? You'd get it picked up by TV at every game....Just have to make sure it doesn't look too corporate teambuilding naf.

Or as a 'nix shirt sponsor you could get it put on a sleeve...we could do a round of the forum members, $5 each may get a thousand takers...perhaps the advertisers on this site - TAB & First-in would top up the take to improve their already excellent traffic they get on this site.

There are possibly company tax and legal issues here that'd need looking at, I guess we'd need to be set up as a not-for-profit society or something similar, A query for James Dean no doubt.

It's be a huge effort, but do any other supporters clubs feature on their teams kit?

The website ratings were done by Andy Thompson - the man from Pandasport.

Believe it or not, but I actually used to run Pandasport with Andy, and built the website a few years ago. YF is essentially an evolution of Pandasport!

Andy is a good fella - so go and visit Panda some time if you haven't

I've never visited those other three sites so they can't be that important. AB's are far too corporate now and above the joe average fan. That's why thugby is waining and why football is becoming more and more popular at various levels.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

what's yellow fever trying to achieve?

Currently anyone into football should easily be able to find out how to access the site.  Do you really want a 100,000 members writing in the forum when 90% of them don't know how the off side rule works?

Was talking to Cnut about this last night actually...

At the moment, what we want is to make ourselves present in large numbers so that we can build up from there. The Knights had a bunch of good, knowledgeable supporters ie Bloc 5, but not enough general fans to support the club itself. We want to have enough people coming to games so that eventually, they'll learn the offside rule and any other criteria of yours, and hopefully become as passionate about the 'nix as many of us are. We've all got to start from somewhere.

So what if they dont know what the offside rule, dont see this as a problem the more the merrier and if it means they learn the rules as they go so what.Having seen some of the rubbish posted on here at times by some who think they know the game i dont think knowing the offside rule means anything.

that's kind of what I mean there a heap of good stuff in these forums, but often you read a heap of crap before you get there.

For me Yellow Fever has a family feel to it at the moment, and that would probably change if every man and his dog was on it.

LOL know what you mean about family feel, seems to be lots of petty arguments at times just like family.
For a first season effort i think the response has been brilliant ,and i cant wait to see what the 2nd season will bring.

as families go i reckon we are relatively functional, and yes we do seem pretty tolerant of each other's quirks

the more (football fans) the merrier!!
