so i know that many a tall tale starts with  a guy at the pub told me but this seems to be on the money. as i sat in a pub just out of gosford tonight wearing a phoenix shirt a mariners fan came and started chatting away. he eventually revealed he was close with john aloisi and seemed though he wouldnt admit was close with some1 high up in the mariners.
this is what he told me
1) the phoenix are in a 2 way race to sigh gumprecht from ccm, us and perth. close with sully but been to perth before so the guy didnt know which way it would fall
2) colosimo has signed with  sydney
3) some guy holland who is on a short term deal at newcastle has today signed with ccm
4) john aloisi move was as much about his family comgin bak 2 aussie, the family is loving living on central coast (not in gosford cos that place is ass) and would be unlikely to move. so our dreams of both aloisis seems to be fading

he said he had a couple of others, but telling me would have revealed my source. so if any of that comes to fruition, remember you heard it here first. hope the guy is back next friday he may have more exciting news for me

I like Gumprecht, but another midfield player? i'd have thought we'd be looking at defenders and maybe another striker

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Remember that Aloisi and Johnson will likely not be playing next year so Gumprecht (and maybe Musialik?) could be a good replacement. I've been impressed with him from what i've seen.

There has been conflicting reports over Holland. During the A-League coverage of Sydney v Jets they reported that he had been signed with the Jets for 2 years but i've read here and on other forums that he's signed for CCM so eh..

Good player but
A: We dont really need him
B: He'll take up a foreigner spot.

I dont know why he should though, all these 'aussies' are all croats or what not anyway.

I think for next season the club will need to recruit 5 o 6 players that are a good notch above some of the current players if we are going to be competitive.  I know the defence was suspect earlier on, but I think our biggest problem is up front when we're trying to do things in the final third of the pitch.  We seem to lack the pace and clinical finishing required at this level (even against Perth last night, the score should have been double, particularly against nine men).  Also the decision making often seems to be too slow and it's amazing how many times we lose the ball in the midfield and up front because players are waiting for the ball to arrive to them rather than going to meet it.

schweeet, what do u guys reckon about sigmund? could be a good buy for defense eh? i went to the auckland-waitakere match a few weeks ago and he looked pretty solid, and decisive, none of this hesitant crap old seems to come up with, he'll be handy as if we persist with 3 backs
