I think Melbourne Heart are over-rated also. GCU without Smeltz, good luck.

Does outright winner mean winner of the Grand Final?

Also, the normal season I've noticed has been called the minor premiership by some but then others whinged about that title.  What's its proper name?

Officially the 'A-League Premiers' according to wiki but everyone calls it Minor Premiership

I reckon thats a bold move to have the new outfit finishing so high, I wouldnt put my money on it thats for sure. Wouldnt mind throwing $100 down on the Nix to take it out though, would be a good return

Kosta has been playing very well pre-season - all of the highlights I have seen point to him having a great season.

So the TAB are only offering bets on the outright winner?

Presumably they mean the team to win the grand final rather than the league?

Will they add top scorer later or anything else?

Sportsbet have Wellington at $13 to win it all and $17 to win the minor premiership. That seems like decent odds compared to the other agencies.

Phoenix + 8 points $9.00, sure beats NZ TAB offering $10 no handicap

However I'll admit I'm not totally sure how this works - do the different handicaps compete against each other, or is each bet a stand alone bet based on that handicap?

Anyway seems like a good bet to me.

Or if you want a low risk bet they are also offering $2.25 on phoenix finishing in the top 6.

I was referring to sportsbet.com.au. It's a different agency to TAB Sportsbet, generally has decent odds too

Fr the handicap thing I think they compete against each other. I'm not 100% sure about it but I'm basing it on what I did last season - I had Perth +10 to win the league, so I figured when they finished 9 points behind Sydney I'd won the bet.

Went to cash it in and it said I didn't win...shattered.

ah cool, thanks for clearing that up. commiserations on your loss, but really what the hell were you betting on Perth for? ha ha.

Even taking that situation into account, that Phoenix handicap bet looks pretty damn attractive to me. By my calculations, the same bet based on last year's final table would have the Phoenix tying with Sydney, meaning the Dead Heat Rule would kick in and you would get half of the win you were expecting. And that's last season - we are a more experienced team now.
