our season for 2008-09 has just got bigger by 6 games
the a-league annouced last night that the league has now expanded to 10 teams as gold coast galaxy and townsville have both been granted licences.
However the league will eventually become a 12 team league, so if this is the case the other 2 teams shouldnt necesserily be australian eh? why dont we get another NZ team to join us?
FFA Said that they want a 12 team league in place which would mean a 36 game season which is a normal season in Europe, which is awesome!!!
Well done FFA, this is a superb move, it means more footy to enjoy and a longer season!! yee haa!!
Welcome gold coast galaxy and townsville thunder to the A-league!

"Gold Coast and Townsville have already made initial moves towards joining the competition and could line up as early as the 2008-09 season
....
We have advised the interested consortia that they have two weeks to satisfy certain criteria, which include financial criteria, to enable them to enter the competition next season," Lowy said.
"If they are able to satisfy the criteria within this timeframe, then there will be 10 teams in the Hyundai A-League in 2008-09."
hmmm... not a done deal yet
