No one seems to be saying it so I will.
The pitch tonight was an absolute cow track. The grass was like a jungle.
The criticism of the long balls is only fair if it is possible to play footie on the deck.
I remember one ball Song gave away only for it to not go out because the grass was sooo bad.
I think we will go a lot better at home or on a better surface.

noticed it for the melb game and today for ours the ball just bobbles around everywhere its terrible.

Apparently the grass was that long because a rugby league match was or is about to be played on it.

Melbourne would have had a Aussies rules game on it the week before. Noocastle would have had a NRL game on the week before.

The grass has to be cut to A-League standards. They had guys over here last year measuring the grass at ROF.

Rugby also coincides with the A-League at the ROF so we sometimes struggle to get the pitch in shape for the Phoenix games. Also the grass is cut at a slightly higher height than the FFA recommend because of rugby's recommended height. In saying that we seam to manage it better than most of the Aussie multi-sport stadiums do.
Fuck this stupid game

I believe the height is only a recommendation. Within reason though.

The stadium groundsman is bloody good, is why.

Looks like the PFA have introduced a new pitch rating system. Which should be good because some of those pitches are shocking

Melbourne have at least 2 matches a week on it and the reason the Tards played Thursday was due to the AFL.
The Planes have never ever had a great pitch at Energy Australia. Back in the day at Austral Park where the Breakers played however...

I did wonder at the open day about how the english imports wil find playing at ROF with long grass. Note also that there are some double up games with rugby and Nix on same weekend so pitch quality may vary..notwitstanding good effots of ground staff.
A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

they had the same issues. And a lot of their balls were in the air. they played a lot of longs balls. and the weighting of the passes was often too light. It made one touch through the midfied or out of defence very tricky.
