PERTH Glory have added two new names to the roster for next season with the signings of attacking midfielders Adriano Pellegrino and Argentinean Adrian Trinidad.Trinidad will link-up with Ivory Coast striker Eugene Dadi, Englishman James Robinson and local stars Jamie Harnwell and Nikita Rukavytsya in a revamped Glory attack that Coach Dave Mitchell is confident will register plenty of goals on a consistent basis.

Mitchell has seen Trinidad in action several times during his recent recruiting mission through Asia and was impressed with not only his ability to hit the back of the net but also an acute awareness on the pitch.

Adrian has great touch and loves to score goals, in every match Ive seen he has been very dangerous in the front third, Mitchell said.

He is also a very clever player who can see things in the game that not a lot of people can and will certainly bring his team mates into the match.

Trinidad has most recently plied his trade in Indonesia and Malaysia and was recommended to Mitchell by several of his recruiting contacts in the region.

The owners have given me the resources to go and see first hand the players Ive identified as key targets this season and were seeing that pay dividends with many exciting signings that might not have happened otherwise.

It is vital when youre using one of the four foreign player positions that each team are allowed that you get the right person and I think that Adrian will more than justify his position this season.

Argentinean players have great flair but also the solid work ethic to back that up. He is a team player and I know that the lads will enjoy playing with him as much as our fans will enjoy watching him play, Mitchell said.

Perth currently has 16 contracted players for the 2008/09 Hyundai A-League season including one remaining international position.

They also confirmed adding attacking midfielder Pellegrino to the squad for the 2008/09 season.

Pellegrino has been a consistently strong performer in the highly competitive South Australian Super-League and impressed Glorys coaching staff after being invited on the clubs three match tour of China in March.

Adriano is one of the most talented players in this country outside of the A-League and I think he will be a great acquisition for Perth this season, Coach Dave Mitchell said.

He didnt put a foot wrong during our time in China and mixed well with the rest of the team which is vital if you want to build a cohesive team, Mitchell added.

The 24 year old brings added versatility to Glorys squad and can be deployed behind the strikers or in a wider midfield role.

Adriano is hungry for success and desperate to fight for a starting eleven spot and thats the type of player I want at the club going forward, said Mitchell.

Adriano Pellegrino

DOB: 09 June 1984 (24)
Current club: Metro Stars (South Australian Super League)
Previous clubs: Adelaide City (South Australian Super League), Adelaide United (National Soccer League), Panahaiki (Greece)

I saw Who's yer Daddy quite a few times in season 2001/2 when he played for the Dandy Dons. he worked well upfront with Hachim Zeroali that year, had some good games, but was not consistent. Contract was not renewed and ended up at Livy.

I am sure that he married a local Aberdeen girl, but sadly i think she either died from a serious disease or she commited suicide. Also round about the same time, his old strike partner, that went back to Morooco died in a car accident i think. So he has put up with a fair amount of troubles in his life.

I wish him all the best at Perth Glory.

I dont understand this mentality.

Why would we want to do that?

He may well be a good football player and an asset to the league

He has only just signed, and done nothing against us!

just cause he may be a good player dosnt mean you cant take the piss out of his name! or him or his nationality, or the club he plays for, or when we beat them, or if they beat us, or if he scores, especially when he misses......that about covers it!

Thwaite, 25, signed for Brann in January from Polish side Wisla Krakw. But the versatile defender has not been able to steal veteran Erlend Hanstveit's (254 apperances for Brann) position at left back.

"Erlend has a firm grip on that position. At Melbourne, Thwaite will be playing regulary and we have full understanding for his wish," Brann's Director of Sports, Roald Bruun-Hanssen, says.

Thwaite, who has appeared in four matches for Brann this season, will be on loan in Melbourne from July 1st until the end of February 2009.

Given the trolly all caps writing, the fact that it's in the wrong thread and also the players position (we are, after all, looking for strikers) suggests Turnip.

...and an Ecuadorian international tomorrow (unless the FFA point out that under marquee rules a marquee that no one has ever heard of isn't really a marquee and could Con please pay him under the cap like Melbourne are doing with the Costa Rican internationals they have).

FFA has approved the signing. Had a look at a couple of youtube videos, and what I could tell is that he is an athlete - quick, strong and has a good leap on him. Plus he celebrates his goals in style Bullion2008-08-01 10:38:03

Jets hope green light for Zura goal celebrations
tribalfootball.com - August 01, 2008

Newcastle Jets have agreed terms with striker Edmundo Zura, of Ecuador's Barcelona, as their marquee player for the new A-League season.

Zura will put pen to paper on a contract on Monday - subject to a medical - after flying into Newcastle yesterday. He will meet his new Jets teammates for the first time today.

Jets are expected to seek approval from A-League authorities over Zura's goal celebrations - which include donning a blue and white wrestling-inspired mask.
