It was a great night and I had very few problems with it. However, other than the Mexican wave (shudders) my gripe is with the announcers/big screen guys. The line-up was announced as "Manny Muscat, Tony Lochhead, ... Adrian Dadi, Eugene Dadi". Is Adrian Eugene's brother? I didn't see him on the field tonight but I sure hope he's the goods.
Later on they advertised the CCM game as being at "the Westpac Stadium in Auckland on the 12th of January".
To be honest it was funnier more than anything. There were possibly a few more fails that I didn't notice.

Fails? Ok, here's my chance for the negatives but don't get me wrong. It was a fantastic time down there and has banished the faded memory of the Ring of Dirt....
1] After spending millions on doing up their stadium, where's their f**ken car park? There's a big clear peice of land right beside the ground sitting empty. The locals and long distance travellers were parking upto 1 kilometer away in streets that did not look the sort of place you'd want to leave your car even if it was alarmed!
2] Ticket collectors? After spending millions, one would have thought that they would have had electronic ticket readers.
3] Staff not knowing where things were, such as the "Deans bowl". Good grief, he's yours and a nations legend and you dont know where his stand is??
4] I've heard some pretty foul language on rare ocassions at the ROF but the locals sitting near us, it was a constant stream at anything that moved.
5] One of my favourites and some of you may have been waiting for it.... The catering. Well firstly, I owe Westpac cooks a huge apology. You know those alleged burgers they serve at the ROF? Well i have found something even worse.
At $7.50, I would have expected my Chicken burger to have been something to be proud of. (Photos will appear once I have downloaded them and then uploaded them for viewing). In the Robbie Deans stand, I bought one and I have never seen anything so embarrassingly dangerous as that burger in my life. I was too sh*t scared to eat it as the thought of food poisoning hit me as soon as I unwrapped it and the weird smell it gave off, was not chicken and very unappitising. I'd be interested to learn if anyone did get sick off eating one.
The chips were in ultra small containers and tepid. The sealed coke was good though and I have to be fair, the ladies at the counters seemed very happy to be there and help you, unlike the Westpac ones who look like they'd rather be elsewhere.
Other than those 5 complaints I have to say this was an excellent experience and there was plenty to do during the day other than getting pissed, although it was damn hot, there were plenty of good pubs in which to cool down. As i said in that other thread. given the choice of the Ring of Dirt or travel to CHCH, CHCH will win every time. Total cost of trip - return flights, hotel Ibis for a night and a rental car = $200. Beat that Willament Travel! Photos to come, the good, the bad and the non-edible.

I disagree with that Buff, when I was at Christchurch airport I was able to read the sign which said "Departing - Wellington XX:XX."
Admittedly I was more motivated to because I knew it was my ticket to GTFO of that place.

Not good. Especially with Rugby 2011 around the corner, atleast it will give them time to streamline that Mckiller chicken burger huh
PS - Put a rating on your pics when you show us your chicken burger. I'm sure innocent eyes will not want to view whats inside them the day after. darkhorse2010-01-31 17:01:091] After spending millions on doing up their stadium, where's their f**ken car park? Apologies if any of the language was from me LG. Got worked up at the ref once or twice, but wasn't a constant stream to my credit.
That burger sounds hilarious, can't wait to see the pics of it for a good laugh.
Good seeing you again.

I personally thought the way you go into the food area through the gate in the stadium, line up for a short period of time and grab what you want and walk up to pay at the counter was great. Since it is there to be taken unlike in the Ring of Fire, waiting for ages to get what you want gets annoying.
I got fish and chips for $6.50. The taste was good however I do think the amount of chips and the size of the fish was not big, definitely not the size you would get in a fish and chip shop if you got $6.50 worth of it.
So I have to agree some work on the food needs to be looked at.

I blurred the friggen open sandwich pic but here's the offending burger, god knows what was in it because it smelt. Not of chicken, but a really odd smell like some sort of Vinigarette.......

Just like in the picture on the wall. What this photo doesn't really show is the burger looked like it have been squashed down but at the time I picked up the one that looked the least squashed. Whilst unwrapping it the paper around it started to tear which was a worry, you don't want this stuff landing on your clothes as you eat it.
$7.50, it is not worth it! $1.50 at max.

There was an awesome All Day Breakfast place opp the Ibis Hotel. I had an excellent brunch there but come tea time and game time I was damn hungry. I went to McDonalds afterwards, their Big mac was so much nicer.

It should be noted, for those who have been there since it opened, Westpac Stadium was originally setup so that people could walk up to the counters, grab their food, then turn around and pay for it, being the same idea as an express lane supermarket.
Except people were too stupid to follow the marked signs 'Queue here' etc, and would wander up all over the show and people would rightly get pissed off.
That and people who forgot their cash and wondered where the EFTPOS machines were... "Sorry, we don't have EFTPOS".
So Westpac Stadium currently serves food the way it does due to idiots who can't read signs. Generally the type of people who can't figure out how to queue up in a proper line now either

LGM, the name of the cafe was Drexels. Eggs Bene was fantastic.
Luckily the lads at the Brewbar put on free food for the YF boys so I could avoid the stadium food.
There was one thing that AMI did better than the RoF. It's a small thing but something that bugs the hell out of me at the RoF. I noticed at half time and the end of the game that the scoreboard clock kept counting after the 45 and the 90. I find it annoying at the RoF that once the amount of added time is announced you can't keep one eye on the scoreboard as the timer has stopped at the end of normal time.

I was pleased with that too, until the timer dropped off the scoreboard during injury time, just made me more nervous.

Well why does the 4th official bother holding up that board because when he does we all glance at our watches anyway. So why not show it on the screen. speaking of that screen it was pretty poxy size and picture quality wasn't it? Down at the other end of the ground, those 2 big bill boards should have been screens.
