Was wondering if anyone is going to the playoff on Sunday from Hawke's Bay, me and the old man are keen on going but may need a ride as have spent a lot on gas, tickets etc... from Januarys month of concerts! So if anyone has a spare couple of seats, we are happy to help with petrol costs.
Or does anyone know if there is a train that goes from Palmerston North to Wellington? Or whatever the closest station that leaves for Wellington is?
Let me know . Thanks a lot!

closest station would be Paraparaumu on that side (Palmy train don't run on weekends). Don't think that Wairarapa train runs either, so Upper Hutt I guess if you take the Rimutaka route.

Thanks. I think at the moment the Paraparaumu option sounds good. A couple of buses leave palmy on sunday that get in to Welly on time, might be a rush for a few beers tho haha!

There is a good service from Paraparaumu to Wellington, I have used it for every Phoenix home game to dateplayed at the Cake tin (except one, but I wont go into that) Just checked my time table, the trains on Sunday leave Paraparaumu at 5 mins and 35 mins past the hour through the day.
A return ticket (ask for a Stadium return as it's the cheapest) costs $8.The journey takes approx. 1 hour, and I like to get into Welly about an hour before kick off, so I'll be looking to catch the 3.05 pm train which is scheduled to arrive in Wellington at 4pm. At the weekend there is ample free parking at Paraparumu, I think this is your best bet. If you have any questions about it email me to

Good luck with your plans,
John

my brother is thinking of driving from park island to the stadium after his hawkes bay united youth game. the only problem is his game starts at 11am so it's gonna be tight. i will talk to him asap to confirm. let me know if you're keen, he can probably do with splitting the petrol costs.
Fuck this stupid game

The Wairarapa trains do run on the weekends. Sat and Sun.

11am? that means his game will finish around 1pm, don't think we would get to the stadium on time! :)

I'm not sure the last train on Sunday runs late enough to get you back over after th egaem if you're looking at the Wairarapa line. All the timetables are on metlink.org.nz

Yea, I've decided to do the Paraparaumu line, the trains run late so plenty of time even for beers after the game :D
