How Jared Smith/Michael White/Che Bunce are doing with signing
deals in Europe/UK?

Bunce is probably too busy whinging about Ricki Herbert being
unable to coach two sides to find a deal anywhere...

i think che is at coverty city fc

He was released by Coventry at the end of the season but was told a
few months back when Ian Dowie took over that he had no future at
Coventry.
Apparently Darlington are talking to him and another league 1
or league 2 team, but he was quoted by the Waikato Times he is
waiting to see if a championship club comes into the picture.
I cannot see this happening and if he stays in UK will be in
league 1 or 2 as he won't be up to championship level.

I'd be amazed if someone was acutally willing to pay him money to
play football, he is the worst professional footballers I've seen

What rubbish... he was a decent A-League defender in this
league. The Knights alone had 10 players last season and more
the season before significantly worse than Che Bunce.

herman perhaps you are blind. Buncey was bloody good value for his
pay at the Knights.
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I read somewhere that Michael White played the last 2 games of the season for Aldershot reserves.

Sorry Herm have to disagree - Bunce is a very good CB -just
because he can't beat players with the ball at his feet doesn't
mean he's sh*t.

Shame he gets talked about more after he has gone than while he was
here. What about Michael White - any news anybody?
What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Read above. Ive written about him.

Cheers. Missed your post - any idea on how he went?

All good. Well as far as I know he hasnt been given a contract for the first team so not to good I suppose.

What league are Aldershot?

COnference I think, low, low standard Even Buari starts in such a
league
Permalink
No.
Buari got a start in his first game back with St.Albans. He
didnt make a start after that.
Well at least he aint in a conference reserves
Permalink
Yeah but White was only on trial. Pretty sure Aldershots new
manager got rid of him. He will be looking for a trial with a
league 2 team I think.

Im sorry but if he was too weak for the NZFC, he aint gonna suite
League Two in England. Toughen up Michael.
What's that about him being to weak for NZFC - he did alright for
Canty Utd. in the time he was here.

I agree about Bunce being good last season. I was skeptical when
the Knights signed him but he definitely proved me wrong. I wouldnt
have been upset to see him at the Phoenix this season if he was
going to be available. Good luck to him whatever hes doing.

I didnt see all that much of him when he was at Canterbury, but at
the Knights and at Waitak he was always pushed off the ball, and
almost always tried to do it all himself. If the refs werent giving
him anything in the A-league or NZFC, then they definetly won't in
league two! I know because Ive followed a team in the
Championship/League 1/2 .

I only saw White play for the Knights, he seemed to have a limited
game and his end product was lacking sometimes, but he was positive
and tried to attack and dribble at players. He might not have been
successful all the time but at least he had the intent. Something
alot of other Kiwi footballers could learn from. It will be
interesting to see how he goes in Europe.

hes terrible. Altho he may be alrite in england caz of there style.

I watched the Perth-Knights game on youtube and it only reminded me
how good Hickey is. I think it's sad that Hickey retired, he was
class. I think Bunce would have been good too, but not Michael
White. White could play in the NZFC but not in the A-League.

Can't see michael white on any of the team sheets for aldershot
reserves games, can anyone verify the truth behind him playing for
aldershot.

How do you work that one out? England is long-ball and
physical, neither of which suite Michael.

White could play in the NZFC but not in the A-League.
White is 18 and played all of a couple of hours of A-league football in his life. How on earth can you make a judgement on where his game will take him ?
He's a raw talent who with the right coaching may well have what is needed to make it, it just needs someone to take a punt on him. It's the same as most of the U-20 players mentioned on here.

I agree with HN on this one. There seems to be a liberal
bagging of anyone with minimal game time who is u20. Brockie
comes to mind. The fact is that there is some really
promising talent out there which is at the age where good coaching
and development can bring real results. Put a bit of faith in
Rikki who can spot talent and nurture it.

I agree, Hickey was always a decent player. It is a shame he
has cut some ties with NZF.
He should be good enough to get into another A-league side
shouldn't he?
If we build it, they will come...

Most of the points made here are valid. Some players respond better
to different coaches. i admire White for heading to the UK to find
out how good he really is. The lad rates himself and a spell in the
UK will help his game to mature. I never understood why the Knights
signed him ahead of other players but then Nevin made a lot of
strange decisions - possibly he underestimated the strength of the
A league. One of the hardest things to do is blood young players
while still maintaining a teams capability to win games, it will be
interesting to see how Ricki handles this. i think as always a lot
will depend on results.

Michael will need to toughen up - fast - sessions at the gym
pumping iron wouldnt go a miss to get some much needed body
strength.
