Are our Brazillians that good?

Great to have the appeal of the Brazilians, but it's a bit odd how there's only one Asian player in the entire league, given Australia's presence in the Asian Confederation. Thought there might be more moves to bring quality Asian players to the A-league.

Same here Pao. There's some very very good Asian players, too. I heard a few of the Iraqi's were interested in playing in the A-League.

Part of that though is that there is still decent money in many asian leagues, whereas a Brazilian player who is over 25 isn't wanted by clubs so much as there is very little chance of the big $$ transfer fee to Europe.

I know Sydney were talking to an Indonesian lad from Persik who gave them grief in the ACL, but the money wasn't good enough to tempt him.

Anyone know if Felipe is signed up yet? Was really hoping to get him locked in before the Beckham game..We saw what happened with Fred.

One of the commentators in the Melbourne game said that Felipe had signed for a second season with the 'Nix - despite other clubs showing an interest in him.

I really do despise these threads, with a passion. i Ask u. what is the point, why have u made this thread when there is a ridiculous amount of evidence against your quite ridiculous opinion. have u watched us without them? I really don't understand how u can come up with such negative bullsh*t, and for what reason? absolutely none watsoever exept to sh*t stir. very Poor Form.

This might be a bit controversial, but i have to say I'm not as enamoured with Daniel and Felipe as some seem to be. They tend to float in and out of games (esp Felipe), and be up for some games but not others.

Dunno if this has already been said, but doesnt everyone drift in and out of games? Smeltzy does quite alot but im not complaining as long as he still has a finishing touch.

Mate - is this not what the forums are for?

I simply stated my opinion and so have a number of others, by the look of the 3 pages (so far) of responses.

You can disagree with my opinion , but not surely not my decision to post it...

I haven't seen a game live (but will be at the Stadium on the 7th for the Perth game), but have watched everyone live on TV, so i guess i feel entitled to have my say. They are good players sure, but personally I don't think they are as consistently good as most seem to think...

Why would i want to S*it stir? I do have better things to do. This was something i have been thinking for the last 4-6 weeks or so, and wondered if others thought similar.

fair enough D R

but when you've seen them live come back and offer an opinion, as you can see almost all of us whov'e posted reckon they are special players who add vast amounts to our squad

I usually tape the games i go to and watch later, and tv does not do these lads justice, they really are a class above most others in this league with the quality of their first touch and their creativity

Although I worry about Daniel's tendency to give possession away a bit too cheaply, I think Felipe and Daniel are as good as, if not better, than any of the other Brazilians in the A-League. If you think back to the Sydney game a couple of weeks ago, which Brazilian players stood out? It certainly wasn't the wee yin in the No. 22 (?) top for Sydney. That just about said it all for me.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'm with you on that Tigers. Nobody despises anything more than a cheating bastard, and you've picked on two of the best in the league!!

I can't stand football cheats. They should be confronted with it and made to explain why they cheat. If I was a football journo or something, I'd pick on them and ask the hard questions for sure.

I like Hyuk-Su Seo, he is a good player, solid defender and if i'm not mistaken is the only import in the A-league from the first year.

though to me good footballers don't dive and act to get other pros went off (maybe I'm a bit old fashioned)

Now I can't prove that Seo dived, but the fact that Elrich only got a one match ban suggests to me that the disciplinary committee didn't see anything in the incident.

Therefore I feel entitled - no, make that morally bound - to boo Seo on the 14th.

I disagree.  No. 22 for Sydney is a very good player, he keeps your defenders on their toes the whole game.  If your marking is a bit loose, like the Galaxy was, then he will set up goals on a plate all night.

Daniel has a great cross, and his corners are starting to become a real weapon for us.  Felipe is dangerous, but he is more interested in setting himself up for the shot. Juninho gets forward quickly and makes great passes from the center of the field into the box, a player like that is gold.

Felipe has the potential to be as good, but he needs to learn to read the game and take the right options a little better.

Think you missed my point, it wasn't a criticism of Juninho, who I always rated.  My point was that when we played Sydney he was outshone by our two Brazilian players.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I still disagree, Juninho was dangerous in that game, even when they were down to ten he was troubling us.  Our defense had to work hard to contain him.

Daniel has done some good crosses. But I still don't think he should be playing - gives the ball away to much. He's lazy. And dives to much.

If you watched the Melbourne game you would have seen that Felipe was taking the corners. I don't think that Felipe is greedy with setting up shots for himself. Ok - he had a couple of shots near the end of the last game. But he hasn't actually had that many shots. I think he would be better as a midfielder - doesn't seem to have a strikers killing instinct.

Juninho has the best pass and vision in the A-League by far.

Aaaaaargh!! Not disputing Juninho's undoubted quality.

All I was trying to say, in the context of this thread, is that IMHO he was outshone by our 2 Brazilians in the Sydney game. I was disappointed in Juninho's performance in that game and I think that Felipe and Daniel can stack up against the other Brazilians in the A League. Not saying that either of them is perfect by a long way, they both have their faults.

If Juninho became available, I'd love to have him at the Phoenix.

I think it was more to do with us doing a lot of work to contain him.

no, Daniel should always be playing, always, even if he sometimes makes a poor touch, what he does on the ball can not be underestimated. and he has best right hand sided(left foot inswing towards goal) in the a-league, by a looong way. he's made 2 goals with those things, and they are dangerous everytime.

o and, Juninho has won a world cup, and has shown he's no has been, best ball player in the league.

Daniel doesn't dive very much at all anymore. He has the most fouls against him by heaps as well. He is targeted. If he has a poor game, but they put 2 defenders on him at all times, I'm all for him playing. That's one unmarked player in our team.

That's the one problem in football, diving.  Highly irate at that I was.  It seemed to me the ref isn't even looking in that direction, Seo goes "down" and he races over with the red.

Are you guys serious?

Daniel and Felipe are extremely integral to this team, Daniel especially his passes and crossign (which is the best in the A-league) is what provides us with our goals.

Infact, these guys normally create so many opportunities and moments for our other players but they stuff it up.

E.g look at Coveny's free header today., look at how many times Daniel supplied Elrich, but Elrich failed to deliver good crosses...

Honestly i dont know how you can question them, they do heaps of work for the team it just never gets rewarded... doesnt help that the commentators also at times dont give much appreciation to them..
