Why are the Phoenix and all of it's supporters so closely linked to the colour yellow?  So little of our home strip is actually erm........... yellow and, keep me honest on this, even less of the away strip.  It's almost like calling Man U the white devils because of the piping on their shirts.

Sorry if this has been done before, but it's a little confusing.

Yellow Fever was made before the Phoenix strip. I think before everything except Terry's haircut...

It might have everything to do with the fact that the yellow fever zone is in fact yellow?

Every seat in the stadium is yellow, but in my experience teams don't normally get nicknamed because of the colour of their seats....

This is old ancient history.

But v quickly:

Wellingtons local colours are yellow and black (and, really, yellow is its defining colour, just like red is Canterburys black is like the background). Thats where it started.

Yellow Fever preceded name of franchise (ie Phoenix) and preceded kit (ie black).

We had to guess somewhat the colour of strip. Got it wrong. Down the track the strip may have more yellow in it, who knows? In any case, the phoenix colours, ie scarves, other merchandise, marketing etc is a black and yellow combo (its only really the strip that is bereft of yellow).

But for the meantime, just enjoy the ridiculous irony of yellow fever supporting a team that doesnt wear any yellow. I think its quite amusing, and we certainly aint rebranding so get used to it

Yep keep it as it is,i reckon its bloody funny and great also that Yellow Fever was was up and running before we even had a team. There wouldnt be many supporter groups started any where who had a forum and members before they had a team to talk about.

Fact: Wellington's sports teams colours are Yellow and Black becuase of the Wgtn Rugby Club (Situated at Hataitai park, Not to be confused with the Wgtn Lions)- back in the day the were the first and most succesful sports team in the region so their club colours became the ersatz city colours- Most people don't know that or don't care-, I personally think Yellow and Black is a great colour combo-  (just behind Orange, White and Blue- LOL!!!!!!!)

dont worry Danielsleftball - your posts can only improve after the shocking start you had.

I reckon it's classic how the game commentators always refer to Yellow Fever about three times - whereas no other A-League supporters club gets a single mention

The Cove and the Squadron tend to get a mention.  CCM, Adelaide and Perth don't - perhaps because of the funny stadia.  Queensland I haven't heard mentioned, and Melbourne is so full and noisy they don't seem to focus on a particular group.

Perth's shed do.  Adelaide don't because the support has splintered in to about 20 different groups.

When the Reebok contract runs out and you guys can pick your new kits, they could have more yellow in them like these.

I don't get this obsession with stripes. They don't look very good at all...

clearly having to go back and edit rash statements doesn't trouble you in the least (good luck with that one)

perhaps we'd be better off sticking to the issue of stripes on the phoenix kit

Friendly banter has never troubled me, as has been well covered in a previous discussion.

I concur - stripes it is!
