I'm not sure what counts exactly as assists, maybe someone can define it for me
e.g. last night, did Costa get an assist for shooting, causing the keeper to fumble for Borwnie's goal
Did Costa get an assist for the back heel for Greenie to score ( I presume yes)
Did Ifill get an assist for providing the defence opening run and pass that led to Costa's back heel and Greenie's goal?
I presume Leo got an assist for laying on the pass for Ifill's goal.
Assist me if you will!

I think C.Barb got two assists and not sure about Ifills goal. Brosque got the assist when Crowther parried it to Corica last weekend so I'd assume C.Barb got that first one.

An Assist is awarded to the player who passes the ball to the goal scorer or is involved in an action that results in a goal ie: penalty, free kick, OG.

ie: Costa had 2 assist last night
Leo Bertos assisted Paul Ifill to score
Tim Brown would have had an assist if Greenie had scored as it was him who was fouled. Hernandez on the weekend had an assist when his shot was deflected in by Chris Coyne. Hope that helps.Tony P2009-11-05 20:54:19

Am I right in thinking that there can only be one assist awarded per goal? Oska2009-11-05 21:17:03

Haha yeah,my immediate thought was "Ifill was heavily involved in an action that resulted in a goal with greenacres one"

but id suspect that there can only be one

Allegedly

perhaps the cateogory of a 'second degree assist' will be employed by bored stattos in years to come  (i.e. the player who played the ball to the conventional  'assister' migt get .333333... of an assist for their efforts

On the topic, these are the assist stats so far this season (off the club site, plus 2 for costa and 1 for leo, seeing as it hasn't up dated yet):

Paul Ifill                                 6
Leo Bertos                            6
Daniel                                   3
Costa Barbarouses              2
Andrew Durante                  1
Tony Lochead                      1
Everyone Else                      0

The wingers with the most, and interesting to see costa up to 4th with only 90 odd minute of gametime.

(also, upon my site stats research I noticed a few interesting things, j.christie's squad number is apparently -1, and Caceres and Ferrante both wear 10, TonyP if you're still reading might want that looked into)
