there was around 6,000 for the pre-seasons, so here's hoping it's 15,000+

yeah, especially if they come out one team at a time, how the hell can ya boo, or go ape if the two teams come onto the pitch at the same time??

Is that just a preseason thing, or does the league insist we make it easy for visiting teams???

I think it's a football thing in regards to the 2 teams walking out together. Seems to be the case everywhere else in the world.

10,000

Alot of marginal fans i know who i thought would be going arent-which quite possible will be typical. Many still arent fully convinced cause of the crapy past. I think when the team proves itself we can expect 15,00-20,000

IF rutherford split the atom, why can't us fellow Kiwis split the teams.

(Though now you mention it, I guess the teams do tend to run out together  - i suppose it reduced the risk of violence in europe/britain in the 70/80s - trying to be serious here)

Still, I reckon it would make for a better atmosphere if we could swing it. (i hate cheering when the oppos are coming out and won't boo when my lot are - very confusing for a bear of little brain!)

Booing the oppostion before the games started is lame.

12000 with many general sports fans boosting the more likely 6000 average crowd for the season.

My heart hopes for 15-20 000 but my head tells me its going to be more like 10-12 000.  Which is sh*te loads more than Auckland could muster with their population base three times that of Welly!

As Miles Davis said in the podcast - we are going to have to rely on the 'floaters' coming (non-sports fans). Let's hope there are some who are 'flush' with money.

This estimate is on the money....I hope it's more but realistically I think this will be a good effort. Any average of 10,000 would be outstanding

V1 Knights opened with 10,000 and then halved each game after that, with a little lift near the end of V2 when Ricki took over and the results improved. Knights had a far bigger population base but stadium location and management were...let's not start that discussion.

Yeah, I agree Kiwi Pie...unless its Sydney, they just deserve it!

Origionally I was hoping for 15k at the game, but the hype around it seems to have died off a bit, hopefully Friday will be a big event and get a lot of people interested!

Well, obviously.

If the hype has died a bit for this one, then it's up to the 10-15,000 who do turn up to make it such a party that 20,000 turn up for the next one. I know you guys hate us Tards banging on about what great supporters we are, but that's how it started with us. Our results weren't much, but the atmosphere on the terrace (another thing we miss at Telstra Dome) was so great you just knew you had to tell 2 or 3 others and make sure you never missed another game!

Meh... you should remember kp that our population is pretty much a tenth of Melbournes so if you get 40k a 4k here is a comparison.  Any more and we shade you.

I'm worried about this too. Advice to all YF members: get your early so we don't add to holding up the general punters who might be turned away by long queus. Let's do everything we can to make it easy for non- diehards to have an enjoyable day out too.

For the sake of the game we must crack 10,000.

i'm going for 8000 - I think the tickets are just to expensive for the everyday person to rock up.

Weather and Warriors will be the main deciding factors imho ,i reckon 8,000 all going well and if they pull of a good result with some attractive   football then the crowds will increase for the next games.
I also think it will be wait and see with a lot of the borderline fans although there will be the something new, gimmick factor that will  bring a few as well.
If on Monday nights tv news we see shots of sizzling 25 yard screamers hitting the net  and maybe a bit of a controversy ie dodgey penalty decision or a bit of bif  then all good, god help us if its a sterile 0-0 draw or the Phoenix are on the end of a sound spanking ala NZ under 17s,sports crowds are a fickle bunch and $28 bucks walk up price is a fair whack if the product turns out to be less than entertaining.
At the end of the day its what happens on the pitch that will significantly influence the crowd numbers this season and all the funny songs and steward baiting are not going to help with that!

Anyone know who the ref is for the game.  Maybe we could slip him a few coin.

Hope he isn't as bad as the refs used in pre season. The refs for the Nix v Tards game and Tards v Bling game were terrible. valeo2007-08-23 11:29:47

I read in the local rag that there has been $7.5 million spent on the pokies in the Hutt Valley over the last 3 months.  Perhaps we should swell the crowd by spreading the wicked rumour the stadium will be flooded with pokie machines!!!!!!!

Money is no excuse when one is witnessing Wellington sporting history!!!!!!
