The official crowd attendance announced at the game against CCM was about the same as against Perth.  However, the crowd looked a lot bigger than the Perth game.  Am I alone in this perception or have others also wondered.  Has someone found a way of getting in for free and if so please let me know how ().

I'm sure all the staff get in for free...

Also, the crowd at Perth was more spread out. On Sunday everyone was bunched into the sunny part. So it was larger in that part but the same size overall.

Sunday's crowd looked a lot bigger on the telly than the crowd at the Perth game

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Ya. They only really do one shot on the telly - straight into the prawn sandwich zone. (which includes the rest of the sunny side)yomcat2007-10-23 09:02:15

I thought that as well....it looked a fair bit more than the official announcement.

It's not unheard of at testimonial games to...ahem...deflate the crowd size...so that the player having the testimonial gets a bit more than he (and the taxman) expected...

Bit early for a testimonial, though...

Seem to be way bigger on Sunday than against Perth, we sit around row 31 and had heaps more people around us.

I watched both games on TV (out of town both instances) and thought the CCM match had more people at it. I guessed 12k for Sunday's match.

I totally agree. I thought there would have been at least 14K people, but either they got something wrong, or I need new glasses...

I guessed 13-14k...was very surprised to find out it was only 10k

I guessed 12k myself... doesn't help being part deaf and mishearing the PA, "ten thosuand" can sometimes sound like "Twelve thousand" with damaged eardrums and being surrounded in a sea of yellow  I'm gutted we got so few people on such a nice day!

On the TV if you glimpsed around the Stadium, some of the empty seats looked a little like someone wearing a retro rick t-shirt. Especially if there was 1 or 2 spare seats between a 3 or 4 spectators. Kind of like an optical illusion. It certainly "bigged" the crowd up. Looked really solid on the box.

Yep, I thought we were nearer 14k aisles 23,24,25,26,27 looked a lot more fuller than in previous games and at last aisle 23 is starting to sing similar to YFZ if not as loud! Keep going people!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

They announced it twice as 10,560 - it did seem bigger than the Perth crowd but you've got to remember that against Perth it was raining (ish) and therefore in the non-fever zones everyone was bunched up in the 'covered' areas regardless of where their tickets said.  Like others have said when the crowd is more spread out like it was on Sunday it gives the appearance of a larger crowd and the yellow seats fill in nicely as faux-phoenix supporters.

Bit of a drag havin a home game on the long weekend though, from the point of view that a lot of people leave town for the weekend, and the fact the match clashed with the under 19 tournament in Napier.  Lots of people that were in Napier for the weekend would have normally been at a Phoenix match.

Good point - 13 teams from Wellington up there, as well as coaches, supporters and parents.

Obviously the A-League games can't be re-scheduled to accommodate such things, but perhaps tournament organisers here could work around Phoenix matches. Surely everyone benefits from that. I know the long weekend is an advantage with something like the Napier tournament.

Being a 12 yr old at a school on the Basin Reserve would help your cause of free entry. Might need a shave first though.

Yeah - the crowd did feel bigger than 10k - Have to say I loved "stand up for the Phoenix" - at least 3/4 did!

I go for the sun spread out theory and the fact that it was a public holiday with a lot of people out of town ,did feel bigger though (ooh er missus!)
