So what will it be Dunedin?

As of tonight there have been 9,000 tickets SOLD.

I have been told by stadium officials that there have been VERY FEW complimentary tickets (a claim was made that AMI crowds were bolstered by complimentary tickets in the 1000s).

1000 tickets were sold today. Stadium management are hopeful for12,000 pre-sales by Saturday. They are also optimistic (extremely IMO) of a walkup of as many as 4,000.

Your predictions?

I only just realised how massive this really is.

PRE-season match. Population is less than a third that of Christchurch.

What's the biggest pre-season game attendance so far and where was it? Was it Roar at Hamilton

What's the stadium capacity?

It is quoted as a round 30,000.

For day to day usage they only have 20,000 (the two main stands) but for big games where they reasonably expect more than than they will install temporary seating (of a more "permanent" quality) behind the goal posts at each end to bring it up to 30,000.

Ricki Herbert is MOST IMPRESSED with the venue and Leo Bertos and Andrew Durrante also love it (they had a bit of a run on this afternoon).

Think it might end up with a similar result as when the Nix first played in CHCH. Have they had any events at the lunchbox yet? If not, im sure there's a few who will go along just to go and sit a watch the first event in the new stadium.

This is only the SECOND "First Class" fixture at the ground.

On opening day Friday 5 August there was an inter-university college rugby fixture between Knox and Selwyn College.

This was followed on Sunday 7 August by North Otago vs. West Coast in the Heartland Championship (attendance ~7500).

Wednesday night was supposed to be the first big match between Otago Razorbacks and Manawatu but it was famously postponed due to snow even though none of it was on the playing surface.

So this is going to be the first really big fixture and I'm hoping that some who missed on the game on Wednesday decide to come along on Saturday for this huge event.

I have been informed that student sales have been really really poor. There is optimism that this means there will be a massive boost in numbers on the 9000 already pre-sold because they are guessing that students will form a major part of the walkup come Saturday I mean TOMORROW!

They've had one. North otago v West Coast which drew 7,500. They were due to have Otago v Manawatu on Wednesday but that was cancelled due to Manawatu not making it in.

Scarfies:  Come along to the game - that way you can drink heaps beforehand and during the game, shout a lot and make a complete t!t of yourself and know one will mind.

This is seriously epic. more than 10% of the City's population is going to a PRE-SEASON game. (I know there's a lot of out-of-towners, Wellingtonian hardcores etc, but still the bulk will be locals).

Can someone tell me if a venue is confirmed for the Roar-Nix A-League game in December? A while back, there were rumours of it being between Cairns and Dunedin, with Dunedin the favourite. And I haven't heard a thing since. I've sort of assumed that this pre-season game would be a test-run, both crowd-wise and facilities-wise, before it was confirmed? I hope so anyway!

I think people were getting their wires crossed between that game and this game.

Perhaps not... it's in the news again that we may be in line to host it (the "regional round").
