There's a pub. Very close to Eden Park (& also coincidentally my house)

here

Guy who runs it seems like a nice guy and I suspect that if I walked in and said "Hey, if you can offer a discount to Yellow Fever members / Nix fans / people wearing yellow, I can mention your pub as a pre/post-game meet up on the forums" he'd go for it. It is a bit small though, but not smaller than the backbencher. Thoughts? Official sanction or official brickbats from YF royalty?

Just off the phone.. Pub owner potentially willing to discount handles from $6 to $5 for YF / Nix supporters.

The other option is The Fox and train in, like previous years. (I've checked, the trains ARE running that weekend. This will be the last year that we'll get to do this on Auckland's clapped-out second-hand-from Perth diesel trains!)

Correct. But thanks.

We're talking to The Fox and The Faltering Fullback. Waiting to see who will offer us the most love.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Don't most of the Auckland people go to the The Fox to watch on TV for those that do not have Sky?

We went to the league last year at Eden Park and my wife wanted a wine with her friends before we went up in Kingsland. It was extremely busy up there. One would think that why would you discount your booze when there are so many people about that will come in and pay full price.

Sky Sport Grill in the Viaduct is better than Fox's...very nice beer selection.

Is the Dominion Rd stop really 892 meters? Nothing closer from the Airport? At this rate, I'll get to the ground about 6pm fuck it. Flight gets in at 4:30pm.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Only alternative from the Airport is 380 bus to Papatoetoe, train to Newmarket then train to Kingsland - and that's still about 300m from the ground. A 15 minute walk won't kill you, surely?

No it wont, in fact it might do me some good and build up a thurst. there's a couple of bars above the train station that are quite good.

Well, the bar that I was thinking of did agree to discount the beers, so, they obviously think it's worth it. It's not in Kingsland though. Still think it would be better to occupy a pub that's 5 minutes walk away rather than brave the Auckland public transport system. But, clearly other plans are afoot, so no big deal.

I think if you get straight out of the airport and get on the airport bus, then go to this stop, it will be pretty quick, definitely not 900 meters away.

Just beware there are TWO airport to City routes, one via Dominion Rd, the other via Mt Eden Rd. You want the first one.

Bit of a bummer Fox seemingly hasn't worked out. They are good to us Auckland based fans for watching all other games. Well, better than anyone else. 2 pubs of Lochhead?
