Away game boozer

Hi there fellow fevers!

I have been wanting to throw this in the mix of 'boozer discussions' for a while but have only just confirmed that this venture is going ahead today.

I am very much looking foward to heading to the Thistle for a few jars pre and post match when the season starts but want to tell you about a possible option for an away match venue.
I am a publican in the CBD and have taken over what used to be the Lab on the Corner of Dixon and Taranaki. I know what you are thinking right now, and your right! It is not the kind of place you would think of going to watch a game of footy....however....By mid september we will be opening a mega sports bar in the site with more screens than you can imagine. A bar where ALL sports are catered for , especially football. Its going to be a multi level site with a 'Hard Rock Cafe' style restaurant ( but with a sports theme ) on the ground floor and the sports bar with TAB and Gaming as well as screens for Africa.
Its early days at the moment but we will have a name ( quite important ) and a website up and running in the next few weeks with the design drawings for everyone to take a look at.
Would love to hear your thoughts, go the Phoenix!!

I also think we should try and sign Duncan Fergusson and Im serious about that too!

Jeepers it's a n advertising frenzy tonight! We are gonna have to start charging. First RYOS now Big Dunc.
However, I do like the sound of that. Big screens, sports betting, and did I hear you say free beer? maybe not but sounds good. Make sure you kick out all the bludgers that hang at the Lab.

thank god for that. they should have called the Lab "the Dungeon". looked like a place you would see on the movie Hostel, people getting chopped up and s**t. if you can build a place like your description says that would be a huge positive for Wellington. good luck

We might not be open for the very start of the season but were hoping for late Sept/early oct.

That is sounding very positive.  I would be keen to venture there when the proposed upgrade has taken place.

If the bar is like the one described it will surely be a positive.

Great stuff BigDunc!!!!

I sure am a Toffee. You might be surprised at the amount of Bluenoses around so as much as I'd love to shout free beer, unless we win the UEFA cup next year it may not happen!

Hey, I think I remember you! Did you used to post on bluekipper.com a few years ago? In fact I believe you offered me a beer at the time...I'm trying to sort out coming over for the Victory game, so I'll collect then!

Yeah, I still post on Bluekipper. Class site!
That offer still stands. See you soon

Top work BigDunc......look forward to sharing some ideas and helping you get this project off the ground where I can.  Great idea to propose an away game boozer and base and from our chats on Saturday and your descriptionon on here it sure sounds like it'll be the 2nd home of Yellow Fever.

Everyone should get up to the re-opening of Karori Park this Saturday morning too...and wear YELLOW!!!!!  Terry and Ricky will be playing in the Celebrity Footie match and they hope to have Tim Brown and Costa there too.

ye sounds good but id rather have costa play for us then some pointless game. Especially since we coming second. Depends if we playing on sunday this week or not.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Yeah did hear that Costa has club commitments so might not be there - unfortunate thing is that almost all the new players are arriving into Welli on Sunday......

Anywhere with "screens for Africa" must be a good place.

I agree, Everyone should head up to KP and show Terry some support for what he has done.
The Karori Dream team plays soon after the celebrity match, well worth a look as well.
Dont forget Tuesday Coxey!
