Just add up how many places you had each team out by. I had Nix in 6th. They finished 4th. Thus +2

4th for my money. So we will finish 8th. Anyone know what the Indian bookies are offering?
Well well well.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
I am guessing its the number of place differences. If you picked Victory for first then 0 points, if you picked Victory second then 1 point, etc.
Lowest score s better.
Is that correct lads?
Kwlap did well I see in the deminimus pick of 1st, Nix and last.
A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Correct.
Anybody bored enough to tally everyone's points and put it into a leaderboard?
Perth screws things up a bit this year.
Allegedly
Phoenix 2nd or 3rd for me.
I'll give myself a 1.5 then.
I lead?
1) Sydney FC I think their squad is really underrated. They have mountains of attacking options - Janko is apparently quality, Brosque is back, Smeltz will probably be on the bench, Ibini is there and Gamiero has been banging them in pre season. I think their attack will be more balanced with out del Piero. Their only loss in pre season is to Newcastle United. Gersbach at left back would be a weakness but their defence looks solid aside from that and they have lots of depth in central midfield if no stand outs. They also have two visa spots left which could be crucial in January. They also have a great coach now.
2) Adelaide They were on fire for the second half of last season. Jeggo, Goodwin and McGowan should all be good signings but I'm not sure about Sanchez. Neumann is the only real loss. I like what Gombau has been doing.
3) Brisbane Two big losses in Berisha and Franjic.Berisha they can deal with because Broich gives excellent supply and they survived without Berisha last year. Franjic is a massive loss. Given how dominant they were last year, they should still be up there.
4) WSW More of the same from them this year. Defence is just as strong as ever but can Saba and Castelen replace their losses in attack? Lots of pressure on Juric to score and they have lost a tonne of depth. This will get to them with the Champions League commitments.
5) Melbourne Victory I feel that their defence is a bit suspect and I'm not sure about their depth in a few positions. Not convinced by Muscat either.
6) Melbourne City They will need to get off to a fantastic start when Villa is playing. Koren and Paartalu are both good signings, not so sure about Duff. There are still lots of players at the club who haven't been great in the past.
7) Wellington An improvement on last season but I'm still not convinced by the defence and we still lack a quality striker.
8) CCM One of the most consistent clubs in the league but their squad looks thin this year especially with Champs League commitments.
9) Perth Have probably strengthened their squad a bit but not enough. Keogh is good player but doesn't have a great goal scoring record.
10) Newcastle Jets They made some good signings but have injuries and off field issues to content with. Defensive midifeld and defence looks like real issues.
So I think we will miss the playoffs because I can't see one the 6 ahead of us missing out. Other people have predicted Melbourne City to miss out on the top 6 but if Villa goes crazy at the start that seems unlikely. I'm not ruling us out mind you. I think we have the potential to be anywhere between 4th and 8th.
My predictions proved wayward. Here is why I think that was:
- I think Sydney FC could have finished first but they didn't because they had a lot of injuries. Gamiero being injured was a big blow and their attack did end up being a lot better balanced. Gersbach proved me completely wrong. I was right that keeping those visa spots open would be great if injuries struck. Faty, Tavares and Stambolziev were great signings.
- Adelaide let things slip a bit in the second half of the season. I feel that Adelaide lacked a striker who could really bang them especially when Carrusca wasn't there.
- Brisbane I was completely wrong about. I think they could have coped without Berisha and Franjic. Their problem was that all of their best players were injured for large parts of the season (North, Smith, Theo, Broich, Henrique and McKay). These players all played in less than 65% of Brisbane's minutes this season. It didn't help that Kurtisi was a dud either.
- WSW I was wrong about. Their defence wasn't too bad when they got their top team out but the attack was terrible. Popa needs to re-evaluate his whole coaching mind set. Recruitment is going to be key for WSW to be competitive.
- Victory - wrong again. They had the last goals conceded in the competition and their attacking line up in full flight was difficult to contain. I guess Muscat has answered a few critics but it would be interesting how well he did coaching a different team. The team did let too many points slip which they should have wrapped up comfortably.
- City - Villa didn't stay for long enough to give them a push start. They only got going when Aaron Mooy started playing so well.
- Wellington. We did a lot better than I expected. Partly this was because Brisbane and WSW were crap when I expected them to be really good. The defence which had conceded so many goals over the past two seasons help up very well. The goals did start to dry up in the 2nd half of the season. I did say we had the potential to finish as high as 4th but I did not think we would get so close to the top 2.
- CCM - They have lost too much talent to be competitive. It's hard to see a lot of young guys coming through right now as well.
- Perth - I was wrong about how they did because I didn't expect Marinkovic to be so awesome and than MacLaren really stepped up. Goals were my concern and they found them. I think their second half form does show that they would have struggled to make an impact in the playoffs.
- Newcastle - Crap as expected
The Sydney thing is interesting. Yeah they had a lot of injuries but they got them at the right time. They were able to go shopping in the Jan transfer market to fix it. We got plenty of injuries late last year so was impossible to place them.

so we can conclude from this that the injury replacement rules are a joke?

And Ognenovski with Faty, and I rate Faty - really quick. Changes the way SFC could play because the Og is slow.

Our problem was that we had no import spots left. Sydney FC went into the season with 3 import spots so they could easily pick up anyone from around the world. We had no imports left so when Riera went down we needed a DM from Australia/NZ. Only Chris James was going around. I believe you can bring in an injury replacement but the replaced player still counts as an import. I don't know if we are in a position to do this but it would be smart to only go into the season with 4 imports. It can be hard to find a local player in the very position you need if 3 left backs go down. It is easy to find a replacement internationally.
Maybe it is a joke but Sydney made their own luck.
