like it says in the story - they'll shift a few more tickets when he arrives in Aus and our media esp tv 1 pump it up a bit

really hoping to be in the RoF with it packed to the rafters for a football match!

26,000 is an excellent effort two weeks out from the game.  Already going to have an awesome atmosphere.  The mention of the corporate box makes me wonder why anyone would want to watch from in one of those.  Alright, you get to sip champers and eat chicken curry, but do you get the same atmosphere and is it acceptable to scream abuse at the ref from a corporate box?

Yeh I read that, I guess we can't expect football to take off that quickly even with Becks comin over.  Then again even with just the projected 30k seats filled its going to be big in the news and everything so its going to be big enough.

Who gives a flying rats arse if it sells out or not?

Dont you think that having 26,000+ people at a football match is pretty good effort regardless of who is playing???

Negative Journalism strikes again!!!

Wouldn't mind a bet that says Dave Burgess will enter the stadium with his Press Pass and will probably write an article for Monday 3rd December edition of the DomPost saying how great the night was...

Still we could put a positive spin on this publicity.  There may be those people out there that think the game is already sold out and aren't looking to get tickets, with the news talking about it not being sold out people may sieze the opportunity they may have thought lost.

Bet the traditional NZ mentality will strike.

People showing up at the very last minute to buy. 22k tickets sold already is great. Ruud Guillett should add to the Dutch contingent showing. That guy was ok at Newcastle & Chelski, but he was an awesome player!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Spot On. 5 or 6 thousand walk-up crowd. Causing chaos at the gates

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Agree ............. best example I have of same when OZ played Urguary in 2005 WCQ. Crowd like no other ever seen before or since. Could not sleep for days, everyone of my mates who were there still talk about it. If you meet folks that were there you become bound the the the atmosphere that night.

I have two mates who went as Cantona put it to the box to sip champers and did not feel the night.

My name for them Cantona is SSF or Sad Silly Fools.

I believe that may of the more lazy kiwis out there know its on TV so are not that bothered to turn up, especially the non footie heads (read rugby players/netballers etal.) who would see the price of the ticket a wee bit extreme.

Shame on you Lonefunman.  But then you support QPR.  Now if it was Sc**thorpe reserves on a wet Wednesday night....

Jeez, what do the club have to do to get people excited around here?  It's an EVENT.  It will be part of our history.  It's an "I was there" moment.  Stop being such a football snob and get your cash out for the club.  If you love Terry as much as you say (other thread) support him.

Frankly, I'll be at the game on Friday Night but not the Galaxy. I'll support the lads in competitive matches and even some friendlies but I just don't see the point of the galaxy. Yes I know it's to see becks, maybe Zavier, Donnovan and even Guillett. But I'd rather have watched a game against Boca, Barca, Inter or Bayern because they are teams full of  stars not just one or two. With Becks, he's good at free kicks but has lost that pace and sparkle of his youth. It happens to all players of course. Besides how can he top "That Goal" from the halfway line??

Good luck to those that do attend and I hope the Nix win, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I would like to thank Terry & Tony for making it happen though and I hope the Nix players enjoy their game, maybe learn a few new tricks.

Your argument doesn't stack up.  So what friendlies would you support?  Team Wellington?

Beckham never had any pace, and I've had enough of 'that goal'. He's not the only guy who's ever scored a goal like that (I remember Arsenal losing the old CWC final to Real Zaragoza in 1995 I think to a similar goal), and the Venezuelan guy scored a screamer from near the half-way line recently as well, but it's only Beckham's goal that gets brought up...
By the way, I don't really see a point in distinguishing between friendly games. You either hate the concept and shun them, or accept them as part and parcel of modern professional football and support the team regardless of who they play.

Make it personal why don't you?! Forget about the point I was making.

You cant see that I would like to see the Nix play a quality opposition if in a friendly? The galaxy are hardly top quality are they? I can draw you a picture if you're struggling with that concept.

Sorry, didn't mean to personalise it but the reason I'm struggling is that these guys ARE quality opposition.  That's why what you are saying makes no sense.  I don't watch a lot of the American league but it's a big step up from the A-League.  The Galaxy team are packed with internationals and coached (soon) by a guy who has won everything but the World Cup (and by the way, it's spelt GULLIT).  This team lost 1-0 to Chelsea a few months ago which is a pretty good yardstick last time I looked at the EPL table.  I don't know what else you think would be better?  Sure, we would love to see the Nix play a top European team but that ain't gonna happen some time soon.

You are happy to watch Adelaide but not the REAL class act.  Bet you'll have the TV on though won't you cos you won't be able to resist having a look.

i am going because no matter who the team play I will be there, even if its against clyde i would still go, as far as the galaxy go, rangers played them back in May just after our season finished and we beat them 1-0 in a friendly also, we also beat chelsea 2-0 pre-season as well plus we have beaten stuttgart, lyon and drew with barca.
I would like to see glasgow rangers AND celtic come over here and play a friendly with the phoenix, as both are good teams.
