This will mean we play LA the day after playing Adealaide. I think this is a bit rediculous. They also mentioned that there will be a joint ticket for both games which I think is a good idea. People will come to town for the LA game and also come to the 'Nix game. Hopefully Firday will see 20K crowd. Thoughts anyone.

Its no longer a problem.

Personally I'm glad it's been moved. Especially if they want people to travel in from out of town.

The joint ticket thing is a great idea - presumably season ticket holders will get some discount?

Maybe a  "guest" player? Or a chance to trial a few nzfc players? Give Costa and Draper a game.

bit of a worry re players injury risk without decent recovery time between The Addled and Galaxy.

Joint ticket might be a good move to get a big crowd for the A-League fixture.

 - would be good to see Costa play after the 'less than impressive' U20's display and also get Clebo back on the park - he's very entertaining - and also give one of the gk's a chance a Beckham set-piece.

I noticed in the DomPost today they are talking about tickets being between $80 - $100 each.

With the right discount for season ticket holders I'm sure there could be  a huge increase in season ticket members -  the maths would be something like half the season played, so ticket prices something like;
Galaxy Game only - $75
existing season ticket holders - $60 (that's about 2,500 tickets of the possible 30,000)
Adelaide Utd + Galaxy game - $90
New Season ticket + Galaxy game - $120

 - guaranteed to be completely mucked up by Ticketek ..... (hopefully not)

I would guess the two tickets would come as one and season ticket holders would get the tickets minus the gate fee for the a league match

haha imagine Clebo cracking Beckham's shin in half

Fine by me - it removes the potential clash with an annual function. Is it official that it has changed?

No problem with it, subs rules will be relaxed and many of our fringe players will get good minutes on the field, so it should be fine.
Joint tickets are also a good idea.

Perfect, this was going to clash with my girl's end of season dance concerts - now I've got no worries.  As a football contest though one has to question the game if it's played 24 hours after a competitive match.  More interested in the Adelaide match to be perfectly honest - but as one of the heroes of 1999 Barcelona Mr Beckham deserves an audience!

At least the Adelaide match is being played first. It would be a disaster if it was the other way around!

agreed but this is a professional outfit and I'm sure Ricki will be keen to get the like of draper and that on... Its almost like a mid-season trial, If we treat it like a twenty20 and go in with a positive attitude its only going to bring better performaces out of us later on in the season.

What do you think the chances of a dodgy penalty being given LA on the 30 yard mark just outside the box with 8mins remaining are??

30 yards out would make it a free kick NOT a penalty. Its also not "just out side the box", its 12 yards further out. But thats just me being pedantic.

Its no longer a problem.

Well, I'm not sure an "exhibition" match played the day after a league game ,with inflated prices, against a team with one ageing star player,is really going to attract my interest, let alone 35,000 people.

Now if it was Arsenal , Man Utd or Barcelona maybe, but from what Ive heard around, its the fawning women like my wife who are more likely to go rather than me.

This match threatens to offer a curious interest but I havent yet heard anything to suggest its going to be anything other than an amateur circus event. I dont want to see subs every 5 minutes, deliberate fouls given away so Beckham can have free kicks outside the box, Beckham going off the minute his 55 minutes is up, etc etc.

I really enjoy the A-league games , but maybe this one aint for me.

I'm not really that interested in it. I just hope some of the people that go have fun then decide to become regular Phoenix supporters!

That and another chance to watch the team play..can't be a bad thing :]

Deliberate fouls given away? I really don't think we'd see that.

However, I do think we'll see lots of substitutions - nature of a friendly.

Two matches on consecutive days is not going to mean a first 11 Phoenix team coming out to give it their all. For us, the A League matches are far more important. For the Galaxy, this is just an end of season friendly. They've got no more fixtures, so won't need to hold back but have nothing to gain either.

I'm going for the occasion and to support Phoenix - if it's an entertaining match that is a plus and if Beckham gets to demonstrate dead ball kicking I'll enjoy that too.

And if there is a packed stadium, the better the chance of getting a pre-season EPL side to Wellington next year

what happens if beckham is sent off in the first minute is the contract void?

Does Anyone know if there is any connection at the club to a European team. I remember the link between Charlton and the Knights (for all the good it did us) If we could get any sort of preseason action out of a European team, or a loan deal for one of their gifted youngsters next season, that would be fantastic.

Beckham gets sent off in 54th minute - contract void!!!

 - just saved Terry and the ratepayers 2 million dollars (less the bung to the ref)

yea good advertisment for the Phoenix, raise a bit of hype and maybe get a few more down to the Phoenix games after that. As someone said thou, tickets aren't cheap, but a packed stadium for a football game in NZ would be fantastic regardless
