Nipped home for lunch today and clicked on good ol channel 34 to watch a program called PTI. As per usual they had the latest offerings from the NFL and NBA and every now and then they have a Beckham story........but seeing he'd been out of the US for a while i was a touch suprised they had something to say about him.....

and when they did.....

I'm pretty sure they mentioned the game vs Wellington Phoenix and how NZers were pawning off cutlery and half eaten corn cobs over the internet and funnily enough, they described NZ as a SOCCER COUNTRY!!!! U F**CKIN BEAUTY!. So we've made it to espn!

Check it out tonight on ESPN, 7.30 i think. It was about 10 minutes into the program.

Email your thoughts to PTI@espn.com - if enuf of us email then they might mention YF directly in relation to the LA Galaxy/MLS connection.

I'm just about to send them this email:

PTI,

I'm a member of the Wellington Phoenix FC supporters club Yellow Fever and from what I've seen and heard our general opinion is that the people putting the stuff up for sale are just taking the piss, I've also seen the auctions and no one is bidding on them but if someone does they're probably just doing it for the novelty.

I also have another couple of corrections for you guys, our population is around 4 Million and we're predominantly a Rugby country but with the Phoenix playing in the Australian A-League and the visit of Beckham we're trying to change that.

Regards,

James Malthus

I hate Tony Kornheiser, and don't have much fondness for Micael Wilbon either. Go Tony Reali though...

Yeah I know, we'll see how committed they are to their journalism when they try to find out what it means or not.

They have a "Corrections" segment at the end of the show, and they did say NZ actually has 4.1 million and that our "national game is Rugby Union".

Graeme Henry keeps his job and it's a "Breaking News" in the middle of an interview, We get Beckham and it makes the latter part of the sports news.  (Can we have a "wank" smilie?)
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
