Ok here's one:

This morning Blanket Man was being hassled by 2 policemen while sitting outside the Phoenix shop on Cuba Mall.  It looked like they were trying to move him although I didn't see if they did because the bus I was on went past quite quick.  However, every other time I have seen him in that spot the police have had no interest in him.  Something is up...

Logical conclusion: Beckham will be visiting the Phoenix shop sometime this afternoon and they want to make sure Blanket Man isn't around to blight the scene.

Self-appointed rumour credibility rating: 0.1 / 10

basically we know naff all, apart from the obvious commitments

nice of you to give your rumour 8/10, terminator

where ever he goes it'll have to have big lifts or wide staircases, i read somewhere today he'll be surrounded by about 6-8 minders (sort of rent-a-crowd really, or hype on a stick)

(sounds like what Smeltzy has to deal with when we get a corner - leaving Aloisi space to smash it in from the 6 yard box!!!)

I turned up to the airport dressed as a taxi driver and holding a white board with Beckham written on it. I didn't actualy but in hindsight would have been a pretty sweet thing to do.

I am sure that a lot of the supposed free time will be taken up with training/recovery. I am sure Ruud would like to have as much time to work on the team

it is possible that the lack of news from the airport is down to the fact that -

the straight women and gay men who went are recovering from fainting with delight

and that the straight men and gay women are recovering from all the screaming and being crushed by fainting fans

or maybe the cops busted the powhiri and the airport is in lock down

the options are endless

No news, nothing on stuff, tvnz, tv3, the herald even on here.

Maybe it's because kiwis are more laid back than the hordes of shrieking australians and don't really care too much about catching a glimpse?

nah.... it'll be like Guy Sebastian at a Westfield over the next couple of days.

Re: the airport - he's probably still negotiating his way through the 8km of corridors before you get to the Arrivals lounge.

There is probably a lot stuff to get through before he is released on the masses, official welcome, press conference, visa applications etc.

A few hundred at the airport apparently

that's good to hear

but even better will be the day we get that many there to welcome the Nix back (with the A-league trophy in their hands!!)

I'm predicting it will happen, within the next 4 years.

I trust my sources that's all.

I know it sounds a bit suspect but then so did the statement "Wellington will have a professional football team and they will host a visit by David Beckham" a year ago.

Like I said, it is being kept very low key but anyone who actually wants to see Beckham up close and maybe get an autograph or photo will be kicking themselves if they're not at Newtown Park on Saturday afternoon.

just been to airport. decent crowds. bummed to be one of his team mates - as it is all about Becks. He diid some sigies for some girls next to me - though turns out my camera was not recording doh. Then he got a powhiri (?) and Prendie was having a few words. He was probably hating all the small town fanfare

Yeah that's pretty much a guarantee - blog by one of my favorite writers sums it up pretty well if anyone wants a laugh...

http://blogs.news.com.au/jackmarxlive/index.php/news/comments/an_evening_with_david_beckham/

Somewhat relevant to that : Speaking on behalf of the team, LA Galaxy player Alex Lawson said: "Today's welcome was without a doubt the most moving welcome we have ever had".

the guys from pulp sport were standing in front of me with bill in a wheelchair which meant beckham stop straight in front of me. sadly bills plan was ruined thanks to him being spotted by a security guard.

I walked through the carpark at Newtown Park earlier today and there was definitely something going on. A couple of cops were there talking to some other guys in suits and another cop was inspecting the fence around the ground.

Airport was interesting- 500-600 people- One guy yelled out:

"You look good David"

actually he is pretty fit- or is that fit pretty?

Powhiri was a bit sad, dirgy songs- nice touch though- something he's probably never seen b4
Alexi Lalas, Actual US Soccer star, was their leader and was in good humor -HE tried to Hongi every chick he met-

Ruud Gullit was huge- a real presence-
Donovan Landon is little, not as little as Graham Little, but still

Quote of the day-
Gay Guy:"You look good David"
Terry S. "What about me?"

Just a real bun fight with the media and screaming chicks in the end

There are already some good sightings of Beckham on the Stuff website including one of him leaving KFC in Wainui with a bucket of chicken! (1/10)

After seeing the pics I think his atempt at Movmber is quite pathetic

My mate signed a bit of paper addressing it "To David" and tried handing it to Beckham. All he got was the same bit of paper handed back with Beckhams signature on it.

Beckham was quite visibly frustrated, not suprisingly, by the end of it.Maybe not as frustrated as the other members of the team who had to wait 20 mins on the bus for Beckham to get 10 metres.

I must have been one of the few that recognised Ruud Gullit and Landon Donovan everyone else thought they were "just" world class footballers.Or was Gullit the 'Bob Marley look-a-like' security from the stadium...

Only saw one other retro ricki there (other than myself). Scored a hand shake and a friendly hello from him.  Got some good close up photos too.  Guess it partially makes up for missing the two games this weekend.

Was going to wear my Retro Ricki but I couldn't find it, so I wore my yellow Galaxy top. It scored me the job of being interviewed by the Galaxy's media manager, who asked me what I knew about the Galaxy and MLS. I think I might have accidentally told him I'm from Seattle  haha long story.
