Brown - ever since he has come into the team we have played better
McKain - ever since he moved to DM
If Bertos keeps playing the way he has been he'll be right up there as well.

I think I should probably remind people that McKain has only had a few good games so far. Wasn't long ago that everyone was whinging about him.
Paston and Muscat have done very well as well in my opinion.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Thats because he can't do anything other than header in goals
Bertos and Sigmund have done all that is expected of them!
Why conduct a poll now when there are 8 rounds still to go....

Huh? Bertos has played well in most games. McKain has also played well in pretty much every game since he has gone DM.
Smeltz has been sh*t for about 3-4 games. Though to be fair so was the rest of the team.
Paston has been sh*t in every game except against Melbourne where he was awesome. Muscat was terrible in his first game against Melbourne and has barely played since then.

Two or three games back when he came off the bench in the 2nd half, the number of shots at goal by the Phoenix just about tripled in 10 minutes.
The Phoenix have been lacking someone willing to shoot at goal, and Ferrante reminded them that's why they're on the field.
Smeltz and Co. still pause way too much when they get the ball. They're predictable, they need to strike the ball on the move, rather than always trying to control it and do some ballet moves first.

Though this is true player of the season would have to be Sigmund though best midfielder would be Bertos/McKain/BrownBertos = no chance. He's done some good but by far and way has been less consistent then Dodd, Sigmund, and Smeltz.I think I should probably remind people that McKain has only had a few good games so far. Wasn't long ago that everyone was whinging about him.Paston and Muscat have done very well as well in my opinion.

Salmon swim upstream
Agreed. Take away half the goals he scored, and we're easily bottom of the table. The fact he's scored 9 so far as the only decent striker that the opposition has to worry about on the field says it all really.
Siggy's been very good since he came into the team, and he and Brown have injected the spirit and fight into the team that had been sorely lacking earlier on. Moving McKain into midfield has also helped us a lot (he should have been there from the start really), but what's really helped us is a good backline - Muscat, Siggy, Dodd, Durante, Lochy - have all played well when on the field in the last few weeks, and that's helped keep us in the games, and of course helped get a few wins as well.

Fair point, but other than that he wasted at least one other 1v1, refused to set up anyone else up so went on his own useless runs the entire match.
That goal was the one stroke of "bestness" the entire game, which doesn't make him the best player this season, even if we still quite heavily rely on him

His departure could (I stress the word, could) be a blessing in disguise.

Yeah, the rest of the team smashes 'em in from all sides anyways, while that guy Smeltz missed like a sitter when he was playing in under-10s, I mean he was one on one, and blasted it over, couldn't believe my eyes, the guy's completely useless, good riddance, can't wait to see the back of him, coz next year we'll be banging in 6 per game without him...
I'd still say our BEST is the likes of Sigmund.
I spose I am being a bit harsh, just it seems Smeltz only really shines in front of goal and until we get their its like playing with 10 men.
And I'm definatly not trying to say he doesn't score goals.Michael2008-12-02 21:55:44
