As we were leaving the ring of fire yesterday we spoted a Roar fan and starting talking to him. He was telling us how he watches ever Roar game home and away and was a foundation member of the club.  He was due to fly out today at 6.00 to be back in Aussie in time for work

This is a huge effort. I have a mate who travels from the Hawkes Bay for most of our home games and thought that was pretty good.
Who's the biggest fan you know of?

Oi Oi Edgecombe came from Edgecombe.

I really don't see the point of measuring it, there may well be people in Wellington who make huge sacrifices to attend as well.  As far as I'm concerned everyone who goes and supports the Nix is worthy.

By making efforts we keep the club going, we prove that it's viable and that the game does exist in New Zealand.  We let the players know someone gives a toss even if - at times - we wonder if some of them do.

How far you travel doesn't make you the biggest fan... supporting the Phoenix in what ever way works for you, whenever you can, makes you the biggest fan and that seems to me to be about 6500 people.

i like hearing the real hardcore fan stories. like the brazilian fan who coats himself head to toe in talcum powder (and everyone around him) at every game, and has done so for about 50 years or more. think he supports either flamenco or fluminense.

I have to admit, I enjoy meeting fans that have travelled down from up north or down south, to them each game must feel something special and that thought helps me enjoy attending every match, also knowing how lucky we "locals" have it.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
