Harry Edge, Jesse Edge & Ryan Thomas did not go through the APFA.

Yeah, some Mexican kids  and kids from other countries spent time there and now have pro contracts in Mexico and Europe
e.g. Diego Martinez del Campo, a Mexican now in the youth team at CE L'Hospitalet in the Spanish Third Division:
17 year old Mickael Partodikromo from New Caledonia, APFA's first Pacific Island graduate who in July signed for Sheffield United's youth team in England.
From the APFA website ( a few more have graduated since this was written no doubt):
Since we started full time operations in 2010, 12 players have graduated from APFA to join Professional Club Academies in Europe or the USA/Mexico11 other graduates have gone on to US University scholarships or overseas elite development programs and 12 APFA players have represented their country in International Youth Teams.

There is no doubt that APFA helped bring Bill on...

They have good contact's  and deserve credit for the players they have placed in the Pro game..

That canopied stand looks awesome.

And is that a bad attempt at a selfie? Taken in the mirror in the loos??

That Braga stand has a huge rock cliff at the other end. Liverpool lost there a few years ago.

Awesome that he is training with the first team. It will help step up his development even quicker.

Hopefully he gets a chance sooner rather than later. Would love to see him get some time in a cup game or something.

Not surprised that Bill has got a chance to trial with the OM first squad. The club is in the middle of a run of bad results and has slipped away from the top of the table. They have had quite a few injuries too. Bill has made a good impression playing for the U19's in the CL tournement so I guess the head coach wants to see for himself by giving him a run with the top squad. He's still young and it would be hard to imagine they would throw a 18 yo into a League 1 game as a DM now . But its all good signs for Bill.

Wow.  That's awesome - give it heaps.

OM are a club known for putting a focus on youth like Lyon are doing now, especially because they can't compete $$$$ with Paris and Monaco. I honestly don't think it'd be too far fetched that he gets a first team crack off the bench for a game this season. In saying that time will tell but its certainly a positive to be at the club he is.

The regular right-back Benjamin Mendy is only 19: http://www.om.net/fr/Equipes/201002/Effectif_pro/1845/Mendy
Regular attacking CM Thauvin is only 20: http://www.om.net/fr/Equipes/201002/Effectif_pro/1850/Thauvin

I think he will get his chance in season 2

Bill played a full 90 for the OM U19's in the weekend. They won 5-0. Bill should be match fit for the AW's

Doesn't seem to have featured in the squad for the game against Arsenal in the Youth league - perhaps still injured after the AWs game?

Normo's coming home

He tweeted that he was travelling with the team, so maybe didn't get picked.

C'MON BILL THE PONI!

At Stade Gerland too - same stadium where another Kiwi, Raf de Gregorio, blasted a fabulous goal from outside the pen : All Whites
 v Colombia, 2003 Confed Cup.

Half-time. OM now 0-2 down. THROW HIM ON!

Spoke too soon - OM score in first half extra-time. 2-1. Bill to come on and score the winner!

NB He's the only player on the OM squad list not identified according to nationality (and therefore without a pretty NZ flag next to his name). Somebody should be told.

Nice one. I'd he makes it next week, is that the first kiwi to appear in the French top league? Can't think of anyone else

Auckland will rise once more

that is very cool.

Look at the table, and you can see this was a pretty important match for both teams, so good that Tuiloma is considered good enough to even make the bench for such a game.

Thought ex-All White Kris Boughenooge (sp?) might have done - but it was a Belgian club he signed for.

No Kiwis have ever played in Ligue 1 but  several from other Oceania countries - Christian Karembeu, Pascal Vahirua (Tahiti - full French international), Marama Vahirua (Tahiti, France u-21) - Marama retired after the Confeds Cup in July and is now Technical Director of the Tahitian FA., Antoine Kombouare (New Caledonia - played Nantes, PSG, Aberdeen, former PSG manager, current Lens manager)

The most recent Oceania player to play in Ligue 1 was Georges Gope-Fenepej (New Caledonia v All Whites 2012 Oceania Nations Cup) who made one appearance for Troyes last season and since they were relegated, has made three appearances in Ligue 2 so far this season.

Frank Farina played for Strasbourg and Lille in Ligue 1 in the '90s

Ned Zelic for Auxerre.

Current A-League commentator & former Socceroo Robbie Slater played  for Lens in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Interesting info on his Wiki:

" moved to then Ligue 2 club Lens, which was promoted during his time at the club (1990–94). While he was at Lens he was attacked with a baseball bat by Paris Saint-Germain supporters and nearly lost his life..."

Wow! The guy can be irritating in the Fox commentaries  - but still....
