Six months on since the demise of the Knights and the best the Herald can do is recycle an old photo of Glen Moss in a Knights top.  Geez, even subconsciously they're trying to link us to that failure....

Typical Dorklanders! Although not everyone in Auckland is a Dorklander, there are a hard core many that seem to thrive on their self ego boosting efforts. It's like they have to boost their own self esteme because few else in New Zealand say anything nice about them. Perhaps the "we are greater than thou" attitude might have something to do with it. They keep forgetting Wellington is the Capital City.

Other than the couple of fans based in Auckland that come down here for the odd game, I find few Aucklanders enjoyable company. Shallow & materialistic comes to mind.

The Herald is a crap paper, just like the truth it's 90% adverts, classifieds & 10% news items.

Obviously this newspaper [or circular] is desperate for circulation, so much so, that their sports section is devoid of writing good journalistic debate, and balance.
Maybe the editorial staff might wish to consider other options e.g. TV one [breakfast show hosting!!]

It's ironic really. Lot's of people in the UK say the same things about Londoners.

Agree about the herald though. Wouldnt even use it to line the cat's litter tray.

I agree, having come from small town NZ but having lived in both Auckland and now London, I get the impression at times there is a jealousy thing going on that small town cities in NZ and the UK won't admit to.  Yeah there are To**ers in those cities but thats not to say that CHCH or Wellington doesnt.

I didn't say every Aucklander, re-read my original post.

Disco, not wrong about politicians, why is it football fans can get on in different countries, yet politicians get into wars??

Peter, you and your travelling few who've made the big trip down are more than welcome. Again, I ask, everyone re-read my post. People like Paul Henry make Auckland a bad name.

i think we can assume if dorklander is an annoyance, then it pretty much worked as an insult ..

but anyway BTT (kinda) ..some plonkers crappy article (in a wasteful old media) doesn't bother me as much as tv3 dedicating a LARGE SEGMENT in their 6news bulletin, to moaning on & on & on about rate payers dosh being spent on the phoenix / galaxy match ..completely swamping all the positives with negative dork spin

& to boot, as far as i'm aware, COMPLETELY FACTUALLY INCORRECT ..any monies spent apparently coming from a retailers commercial fund, NOT ratepayers ..no research or even asking the right ppl the right questions, just endless street 'voxpop' polls ..FCCK tv3 AHOLES just undid their attempts at footy coverage

Martin, I'll be serious for once on here and say either it is because of sheer laziness & bad editorial checking OR The Herald could not be bothered to pay for a locally taken photo.

I suspect the herald were thinking "Don't worry, it's only soccer, no one will notice" type attitude.
