I notice that when Shane got the ball watching on TV the crowd seemed to be booing. Now if this so, I think we should have more respect for the best A league striker and ALL WHITE striker who we have massive hopes for. I also notice this occurrence happened when Burtos played for the glory.

I believe we need to treat our All White player with some respect no matter what club they play for.

boooo hoooo, poor little shane f**ked off for more money, and now isn't getting the respect he deserves??

He gets respect as a new zealander when he plays for the AW's, but he is a cheating aussie judas when he plays for the GC

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Bollocks, its in good spirits, not malicious and he would probably be disappointed if we didn't as it shows we cared about the loss.  I assume this is a troll job,  so not sure why i'm responding, but he will be greated by a resounding chorus of "we love you Smeltzy we do" in 3 weeks time.

The crowd were booing him because he left us because of greed/lifestyle/his wife/whatever. No more, no less. Doesn't matter if he's Kiwi, German or Australian.  valeo2009-10-25 19:26:13

I bet you Shane considers himself more Australian than a New Zealander. I believe he is an Auzzie citizen and he has grown up there all his life. He deserved the booeing for choosing money over loyalty to the club that made him the player he is.

The booing was good natured, he'd be silly not to expect it. Didn't seem malicious and hateful. We save that for Seo Hyuk-Su.

well actually, the nix offered him MUCH MORE but he still turned us down.

and as for this thread - mate, it was a friendly well-natured  booooooooooo, it wasn't vicious at all.
Smeltz himself said he was expecting it (oh, and he gave us a wave when he were singing to him)

I approve of booing Shane Smeltz. We even did it to our Judas prior to him leaving a few seasons ago.

You also noticed after 4 goals in 12 mins in that second half, nobody really gave a sh*t about Smeltz...

He would have chosen Ausie over NZ if he had the chance. But he wasnt at the level he is now so NZ was the obvious choice when it arose.

Its part of the territory, when our best striker two seasons running leaves and plays against us, what are we sposed to do... cheer for him?  Its all part of football.  This kind of trolling thread is about as ignorant as the ones that used to pop up calling us racist for booing Seo.

Happens everywhere in the world. Smeltzy got off lightly compared to what Rio got when he returned to Elland Road with the Scum. Same with Sol Campbell returning to White Heart Lane.

Comes with the territory alright. Nothing personal in it by most fans. and he will be our All White asnd if he scores the winner, he'll be given Sainthood.

He said he was expecting it and hoped it would happen as it showed nix fans to be passionate about their club. He got absolutely crap service today.

Nothing wrong with booing smeltz. that's what happens when a player leaves. when they play for the national side it's a different story, and they know that's the game

I remember Robbie Keane saying he wouldn't celebrate if he scored against Leeds... knocked one in and then did his cartwheel and gun-popping celebration. (Leeds lost first game of season today, took it out on Smeltz..!)

He clapped us when he came off and that was well received. I thought he showed great sportsmanship throughout the game.

Smeltz said on the TV interview the other night he expected some jeering and booing from the crowd, and that he expected it because the fans are passionate supporters of the Phoenix.

I wouldn't have expected anything less than constant heckling of Smeltz, considering it was Ricki Herbert and the Phoenix that gave him the profile to move to Gold Coast.

We'll forget he's a judas for the All Whites game, but after that it's back to judas status

Smeltz knew he was going to get some stick and it was all in good nature. As he said in an interview he knows just how passionate the Phoenix supporters are.He took it in good spirit and even gave a wave when Smeltzy Smeltzy gives us wave was chanted.

Best chant had to be Smeltzy Smeltzy whats the score.

Is it a fair statment that Moss is more of a c**t for leaving? As Smeltz said, its his hometown where he wants to raise his family. So until he takes a big money move overseas, he did it for his family.

Why did Moss leave?

And although the Phoenix and NZ Football are 2 different organisations, did leaving the Phoenix have anything to do with the lack of appeal for his world cup ban?
