I think Tim Brown could be the savyor(?) of the phoenix midfield.
He sure did wonders with the Jets midfield shutting down players
like Fred and Kevin Muscat, he played so solidly, hopefully he can
slip in for Ferrante or something. The Phoenix just seemed to
give away to much possesion in mid in both games.
Who thinks Jeremy Christie should be played at right back, him
and Lochead could be pretty dangerous attacking down those
wings.

you lads defo need TimmyB in there. He is a strong player,
both with the ball and winning it.

Yes we need Tim in the midfield, Christie and Ferrante don't look
good enough in the middle and Aloisi needs help covering the gap
between midfield and defence.

added to his ability on the field is his strong leadership, would
compliment aloisi nicely

Definately give Christie a go at right back...

mate, 1st game Steve Old at right back had a blinder.. has not
played bad this season. look how bad we did last night without him.
Sub Ferrante and bring on Tim Brown!
that is all
Permalink
he clearly did not have a blinder.... he tailed their striker for a
good 20 metres before he was able to put a ball through on a
platter for the other striker, i'm sensing a touch of bias

do you think a Daniel-Aloisi-Brown-Felipe midfield would work in
both offense and defense

Ferrante again, the weakest player in the phoenix team. May sound
harsh but you can't waste chances when your in such a important
position. I too, can't wait for Tim Brown aka the Savior!!!He and
aloisi will form a nice partner ship im sure of it.
Lochhead was faultless last night.
Felipe looked good again, no doubt he has the skills but needs
to pick and choose when to use them.
Daniel had a pretty crap game, his dive kind of lead to the
3rd goal because everyone stopped.
O'dor looked more comfortable in the centre, which is his
proper position - from what ive seen previously of O'dor i think
he's solid as (as a centre back) ferrante was leaving him wide open
two defenders for the first half!!
Smeltz did well when he got the ball but didnt get the service
he needed from ferrante and christie.
It's kinda wierd that when the signings were made, everyone
was stoked on the midfield and how much depth we had but the
midfield is where the problem areas are.
Id like to see for the next game :
-------------------Paston-------------------
Old----------Cleb--------Dodd---------Lochhead
----------Aloisi------------------Brown------------
----------------------Felipe---------------------
-----------Covs--------------------Daniel--------

Agree Jordy, that it will be good to have a look at Tim Brown
alongside Aloisi.
Not sure if your line up would compound last night's
lack of defensive support for whoever is at right
back.
Great to hear Ricky not rule out Daniel and Felipe on at the
start together - but i can't seem to fit them in and have
confidence with the defensive shape of the midfiled.
I wonder about your line up but with Ferrante in for Covs. (I
think there's a bit of overreaction to his couple of missed
chances last night.)

ferrante is not that great in my mind but he does have a decent
corner

Brownlie over Covs
I like tautologies because I like them.

What about George when he comes good Man_utd_fan2007-09-01 15:35:48

Yep brownlie over covs unfortunately, yeah give george a go
for sure we all want to see what he's got

I reckon Coveny could be a great impact player off the bench. He
has truck loads of experience to share which could be priceless in
the dying moments of a match. We'll have to see how things pan out
i guess.

coveny had a pretty average match last night

Agree with playing only one up front. If I were Ricky, I'd try out something that works out like 4-2-1-2-1:
GK Paston
RB Christie CB O'Dor CB Dodd LB Lochead
DM Aloisi DM Brown
CM Johnson
AM Felipe AM Daniel
CF Smeltz
Width would have to to be the responsibilty of the fullbacks and two attacking midfield players

injured, should be fine for Jets game
