Spoke to a Brisbane fan Sandy today who has been to every game at the ROF against us. Impresive because he lives between Rockhampten and Mckay and to get to a home game he drives about one and half hours then catches a flight to Brisbane. He is planning on being here in December so im hoping that YF can shout him some beers.Maybe even give him one of our scarfs.
Cause he supports Brisbane in NZ for 1 - 2 times a year? Contrast that vs some PHOENIX supporters that drive the length of NZ for every game...?
Don't wanna piss on your parade but 2 road trips to NZ I don't think is impressive. There are folk that will do the same into Australia for Phoenix games.
Grumpy old bastard alert
Still it does build a positive repore between Nix fans and visiting teams. Doesn't hurt our tourist industry either. Speaking to visiting fans in the past, they have been very nice and receptive but they all say the only game to avoid is in Paramatta. They've all said, Wandereers fans are bad and looking for trouble regardless of age, sex and size.. I guess that's a throwback to the NSL days.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Yes, if they can afford it. Wish I could.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
Going to the other A League grounds is on my bucket list if I ever won Lotto.

Lesus you're miserable sometimes JV. Nobody is calling for Sandy to be given a knighthood, all Ballane said was he deserves a beer.

We'll keep an eye out for him at the next game he comes to. Steve, you are right, he does deserve some special attention, just like that guy from Perth that shows up.

You do realize that traveling from Rockhampton to Brisbane is a similar distance as Auckland to welly?
Pretty good effort I think to also make it to NZ twice a year as well.
Still not feeling it sorry. If he drove the 8 hours, well then maybe. Sitting in a plane is not a hardship. Plenty of people do it from Auckland and other places and we are not offering them free beer.

I flew from Auckland to the UK (via Abu Dhabi) return just to go see a game at Basildon AFC (train/local bus/shanks pony) and engage in chat with supporters/board and post photos on this forum (see Basildon Bees thread) solely to satisfy the sentimental yearnings of Junior 82. Beat that!
"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...
I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...
Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...
Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."
Cheers.

Any fans who make the effort to come over here should be welcomed. It's not as if the thug minority could be arsed travelling here.

Dosnt really matter but do think some of you have no idea as to what an effort that is.That was every game Brisbane have played us in NZ.As for distances big difference travelling in Australia than our little hops in NZ.As i said no big deal just thought that was pretty impressive effort from a travelling supporter
GET YOUR SHIRTS OFF FOR THE BOYS
Why are we arguing about this? He drives 1.5hours, catches a flight to Brisbane, then a flight to NZ, then back again. Pretty decent effort. He probably pays more than any other A-League supporter does to watch one game.
Fuck JV, what do you want him to do ? Sail here on a dingy ? Will that deserve a beer ? He looks like a nice bloke. Jesus......some people......
Three for me, and two for them.
No, but went to watch Shanghai Shenhua last week.
The standard is rather poor.

As poor as the A League?

sorry off topic but what are you doing over in china buffy? Must be something interesting...?
No longer there got back a few days ago. Was only in Shanghai for a short break/holiday so not really that interesting haha.
As an aside, former NZ Knights favourite Jonas Salley was playing for the opposition. He was as good as i remembered him to be.
