Had started this subject under the return of giant shirt.

Have a look on wikipedia at some of the others that have been done. I was thinking something on a much smaller scale (maybe just the yf zone. A giant retro rikki I was thinking but new ideas would be good. Also if there is any art students looking for a new project just found it for you.

A great big YELLOW ARMY would be cool, will take a bit of organising though.
You know we belong together...

To get one done is $4,500 aussie and if you use our logo you need to go via the FFA. There a special specs that the stadium will want such as fire retardent.

OOOh so much for a cheaper option. I was thinking something a little bit more homemade. Just get an image work out the scale diviy it up laminate with numbers on the back organize the troops and Bobs your uncle.

However if  Sony wanted to boost there profile it could be something they could work with and get a more proffesionally made FFA fire retardent state of the art image.

Wow that is expensive. I like the idea of maybe getting a sponsor to help - or diy. We are kiwis after all

Sorry for a minute then I thought I had an original idea.

This could be done easy and effective?
Just Stripes black and Yellow could look mean

Permalink Permalink

Agreed but as Tony said better make certain that this would be ok with FFA and Stadium and Club.

That would be easy to do.
As long as we follow stadium rules.
Stripes would look good.

All we need is card, laminated or whatever and the seating lay out for the fever zone.

That way you can figure out how much card you need and where to put certain cards.
Spelling out Phoenix would be rather easy.

It would work as long as there was enough time to put everything out and everyone knew what to do.Stefan2009-08-23 13:17:09

What about something as simple as.

Phoenix
   City

Or.

     This
       is
Wellington

I like this Idea.
More simple than the giant shirt
I am cautious to volunteer to help though. it could all go to sh*t.

Exactly.
It doesn't have to be the full zone.
I tired drawing a few mock ups though. and to get a decent sized slogan, it would take a few rows. maybe two aisles.

I am in the process of doing a mock up.
So far.

We need 25 seats in 9 rows just to spell PHOE

$4,500 is for a giant shirt like we had before.

Instead of handing out those inflattable bashing sticks (that I drove a few people mad with by bashing them with) how about handing out a double sized a4 card, yellow on one side black on the othe.
A nice big Phoenix logo on it would  encourage people to keep them and a short description of the intented card stunt would help co-ordinate the task.

This could still have Sony printed on to remind fans just how wonderful their support for this team is.

They would have to be on the back of the seats. that way. whoever is in the seat behind. has the right card for the right place.

Hmmm sounds simple enough if the powers that be decided to run with it.
Permalink Permalink
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Sounds sort of simple. But you would have to make sure people knew what they were and what to do. Who would put them out before game?

I......... Wouldn't mind doing it.. once.
But I would need a team

Maybe with the help of a design student on two weeks holiday ........

I'd help out if there was some sort of plan..
And its more of a study break(ie break for study) than a holiday. Well that what the tutors like to call it.

Sorry that all I can do is plant the seed of thought (or replant it sorry Whitby Fever) would be great to see things like this happen with Wellington and All Whites.
One more thing to address is the cost of this project (laminating is not cheap) even card is expensive in LARGE quantities.

You could do something on a smaller scale for AW's, just

1982
2010

in white and a black background (or vice versa) for the start of the game. Given it would be a one off it wouldn't really need to be laminated either I guess, unless I'm missing something. Would be happy to arrive early and help with the layout of that.

As for nix games, probably better value continuing down the track with banners and some flags etc (eg - J League) because it seems like a lot of work to do for every game (not to mention people always arriving early) compared to bringing material on a stick.

Just IMO though.

You make a very valid point I don't think this is something you would do for every home game as it would get tiresome fast but don't know how often people would want to do it.

For the world cup qualifier, could say "1982 2010 believe"
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

I like it.

I was thinking of getting another banner made up for that.

Why not just use yellow and black ballons..I saw it to good effect in a Polish league match I went to...Its cheaper.  Aisle 23 black aisle 24 yellow etc.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

If everyone keen to help spends 30 minutes using a laminator at work we may be able to get it done.

30 Mins with a laminator is about 15 pieces of card.
Its a bit bigger than that oska.

Balloons would be good

Maybe get a bunch of black rubbish bags and some string, head over to the northwest corner of the stadium where nobody sits and cover enough seats to spell out N I X or something of the like.
