We all know about this by now. 11 tragically killed after a ballooning accident on the morning of Saturday 7 January. Details unconfirmed but unofficially it was 5 couples, plus the pilot of the balloon. Media reporting that the 5 couples were from the "wider Wellington region".
There were always going to be people from the wider Phoenix and Yellow Fever family affected directly by this terrible event, and it would seem only "right" for an acknowledgement of the victims at today's Nix game as a mark of respect.
Is someone at YF able to pass these sentiments on to the Club? I've passed indirect messages via Twitter which have not yet been acknowledged. FWIW I also sent a message to the official A-League twitter and received a response saying that this is up to the Club (I wasn't sure what the protocol around these things was so posed the question anyway).
Would be good if someone who can make contact with the Club can at least let YF know that the message has been passed on, whether it eventually happens or not. I think a lot of people here would be relieved to know that the message has been relayed to the Club.

It is very much a local tragedy so whether it's a minutes silence or just black arm bands I think it's appropriate that something is done. Well done Ahmad.
Fuck this stupid game

Ok message has been relayed to Club and we will see what can be done, understanding the limitations sometimes posed by this being an FFA owned competition.
Our thoughts with all those affected directly and indirectly by this and to the victims, rest in peace. ahmad2012-01-08 12:09:32
