Righto, in the build up to Sunday I thought I'd try and find out what "celebrities" (well, folks that people recognise) are Phoenix supporters.

I know it's a bit trainspotterish but I've got a massive great anorak.

From other posts I can start the ball rolling with two:

All Blacks lock James Ryan - the ginger giant, spotted in the Yellow Fever zone v Victory
Rugby commentator Keith Quinn - big Swansea fan, larging it at the BB before kick-off

Any others?

Might be a useful tool for the marketing bods at the Phoenix to help further promote the team to the uninitiated e.g. X (insert celeb's name) supports the Phoenix, do you?

I hear that Terry Seripsos takes a casual interest.

We could always "borrow" one of the puppets from the BB to swell the celebrity ranks ....

I was on the same plane back to Melbourne as Jon Toogood from Shihad. Maybe he was back home to support the Nix? I know he likes his cricket, maybe he's a footy fan too?

Last I heard he was still living in Welly but the rest of the band were in Oz. Still one of the best live bands doing the rounds.

Those blokes off the football fever podcast are all fans

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Oh, and that Frankie Mac chap - he's a legend.

I reckon Peter Kay would be a fan, if only he knew.

Ricky Herbert has been spotted lurking in the tunnel!
Probably looking for All Whites.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

When we were farewelling Philstyle at the Wgtn airport after the Victory game, Phil got a surreptitious photo of Fred de Jong.  He sat next to him and talked Phoenix until Auckland.  Guess his voice is famous.

Mark Sorenson was talking up how much he loved the game against Melbourne. He even sang 'Same old aussies, always cheating' on Radio sport!

I notice a trend ...

Plus Pippa Wetzell (unconfirmed, but it's a mutual respect kind of thing)
Terry

Oh, and Frankie Mac (by all accounts he's a legend)

He's a good football man - I played with his brother for about 4 years. He filled in for us a few times - was quite handy too

Old Kent Johns (radiosport) is into his football and I think he likes the Phoenix, as does Andrew Dewhurst.
Permalink Permalink

Dewhurst might like to stop being such a <expletive removed> on his radio show about the Phoenix then.

So far I've heard nothung that would suggest he's any more of a Phoenix fan than Brendan Telfer.

I've phoned up and had a couple of yarns with Dewhurst about the Phoenix and I'm pretty sure he supports them. He's made a comment something like, "If I had a year off work I'd get myself a season ticket to the Warriors and the Phoenix".

Who's Wiremu Patrick? I've heard of him but can't think of who he is.

Not sure how Woody qualifies. Did some good maori on the Sky pre-match banter at the Backbencher though

Pippa Wetzell confirmed this morning didn't she? She's been following the Phoenix closely (a win and a loss, so kind of closely), unlike the ass Paul Donkey.

Hi Folk!

James Ryan here,

I was at the Victory game, and have to say I sure did enjoy it!

Might be going to the Jets game but still undecided.

Good job from you Yellow Fever Boys!

Keep it up

so, does Graham Seatter count as a celebrity, of any grade? He has been spotted posting here
Permalink Permalink

Hmmmm. Do celebrities have any worth other than trying to validate their own insecure lives? My feeling is GS might be rather beyond that (in fact, he probably never had to go there in the first place).

And James Ryan, I count you as a sportsman rather than a celeb, so before you come round to pile my head in some earth, take no offence
