Celebrity Spotting @ the Football

I let my guitar speak for me

Evening all.  Random topic I know.

Just wondering if anyone has seen any swanky celebs at the football so far this year.  I had the pleasure of sharing the bank with the lovely April Iriemia at English Park on the weekend.

Anyone else got interesting stories/photos?

p.s.  Frankie Mac does not count as a celeb even tho his photo continues to be on the front page of this website...

Is April Iriemia that ex-netball player?

And she used to do the sports news and appeared in a few crappy celebrity tv shows.

Still got it mind you.

My brother once proposed to April in a bar near skippers canyon in queenstown. He was 17 and blind drunk, but the rejection still cut him to the core and he hasn't been the same since.

To answer the question: no I haven't seen any there..

On a somewhat related note... Has anyone seen any of the players around (aside from the backroom staff of course)? I swear I see Ferrante on a BMX around town some days but my boyfriend thinks I'm retarded.

Also saw Vince Lia and Stephen Old out on my way to uni the other day. It kinda made my day when Vince Lia checked out my ass. That or he had a really bad crick in his neck. My ego prefers the former.

I saw Shane Rufer at the Newlands Mall in 1981 and he signed my "All Whites Spain 82" souvenir magazine.

I saw Lonegunmen at the Sydney game on Saturday!!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

My hubby had a breakfast meeting yesterday at Felix cafe - Aloisi, Daniel and three others from the team (can't remember who he said though) came in and sat at the table next to him.

That's all good, but seeing WPFC players out and about isn't quite the same thing as seeing celebrities at the footy, the point of this thread, is it?

The players I saw were at the footy, does that count?

I saw Mickey Ferrante, Vince Lia and Royce Brownlie having a quiet beer in Ernesto's a while back. Anyway, I missed out on asking this in the "Do the players read this forum" thread, so if they do, where did you get your white shoes from Mickey?

Also thought I saw Thumbs Up Paladini yesterday.

So it's official then - NZ celebrities, on the most part, hate football.

All 8 of them.

I sat next to Tatiana Romanov at the Sydney match. A distant relative to the family that used to run Russia...

well that's what she told me....
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Its true they used to run Russia but the Romanovs  having  moved to Lithuiania   now own a top class Scottish football team in Edinburgh!!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Yeah, only 'cos somebody told him he was going to the netball and he couldn't get out

In the days of IRD staff "celebrity surfing" the computer system it used to make me laugh when Adam Parore was described as a celebrity.  Paul Holmes and Jonah Lomu were the other two who used to be mentioned but at least they had some case.  Adam Parore?

Mallard and Cosgrove to appear at the Beckham game?  Ought to be plenty of high profile tosspots making their first appearance at a football match that night.

Keith Quinn was at the first home game as was Mark Sorenson. Sorenson raved about it on Radio sport the next day and Quinny also had a ball!
