After a poor showing against the Central Coast, changes are likely
to the Phoenix starting 11 for round three of football's
A-League.
The Phoenix were beaten 3-0 by the Mariners and coach Ricki Herbert
says they are looking to shore up their defence ahead of Sunday's
clash with the Newcastle Jets in Wellington.
He says the changes will probably be more about improving formation
and shape, rather than because of poor form.
Stephen Old has returned to training after missing the Mariners
game through injury and he is likely to start at right back.
That will leave Cleberson and Stephen O'Dor to fight it out as the
partner for Karl Dodd in the centre of the Phoenix defence.
Brazilian import Felipe is in line to get his first start for the
Phoenix.
Felipe has impressed with two cameo performances off the bench and
Herbert has revealed they are considering playing him from the
opening whistle this weekend.
Herbert says they are hoping Felipe and his countryman Daniel can
cause carnage in the midfield. He says the idea of starting Felipe
is more around formation so it will need some work but he is
confident it will be a positive move for the team.
Herbert will name his squad for the match against the Newcastle
Jets tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Sydney FC could be without their marquee A-League
football signing Juninho for up to two months.
It comes after the Brazilian suffered a shoulder injury during last
weekend's match against Adelaide.
ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH
