Has anyone given any thought to possibility of a charter to Aussie for an away game? Something like the away game in Brissie in Feb which kicks off at 4.00? Fly in in the morning out late in Evening? A 737 holds around 130 people. Could be an epic day away... Any thoughts / Interest? Has this been tried before?
That could be quite fun...Would be expensive though
I think it would be more than that...Could be something to look into though.

You'd need 100 people to declare interest. May as well look into it. I don't imagine it being that cheap though, the plane and crew have to come from somewhere, and most flights are already pretty set.
But then again, I could be wrong!

Get Gareth to subsidise the plane for us! :

Then there is taxes for landing at airports, fuel, holding the plane while we are at the game.
Hate to be the pessimist, but surely there wouldn't be enough interest for a normal game. Grand final, on the other hand...

Could charter a Philipino crewed shipping vessel. I hear they know how to find land like nobody else.
We could borrow Clive Palmers private Jet.
GCU aren't exactly using it anymore.

I had a look into this a couple of years ago for the play offs, it was going to be around $95k for 160 seats. I'll dig out the contacts I had for you.

Hey All
Have had a response back and would be $551 per person based on booking out a 737 approx 130 people.
Not particulary flash unfortunately but as someone said, may be an option to keep in mind come finals time?
Would be a fun idea at finals time. Way too expensive for regular season sadly.

My understanding was that charter flights were typically no cheaper but simply offered more control (within existing schedules) over times of flights.
Also, it's not as if there are spare planes sitting around in hangars collecting dust - it sometimes costs more to have a plane on the ground than in the air so most airlines don't have many to spare. Getting those few planes is subject to availability, and the cost of getting those planes to the origin point (and possibly away) would, I presume, come into the overall cost.
I'm just adding some thoughts though. Good on you for looking into it Jeff!

What about a boat ?
I'll fire off a few e.mails to the Inter Islander and Bluebridge tonight ,who's game ?

Will it come with a complimentary eye patch and parrot?

Bugger that. Titanic 3 anyone? Clive is calling it Titanic II but Gold Coast clearly have the rights to that.
Or even the SS United States. She's sitting mothballed in Philadelphia.

I was talking to Gnome from the travelling Brisbane mob about away games later in the season, he was talking about the Brisbane boys planning a large weekend. I think he was referring to this weekend:
Central Coast Mariners FC v Wellington Phoenix FC 7 FEBRUARY 7:00PM BLUETONGUE STADIUM
Western Sydney Wanderers FC v Newcastle Jets FC 9 FEBRUARY 7:45PM CAMPBELLTOWN STADIUM
Sydney FC v Brisbane Roar FC
10 FEBRUARY 5:00PM ALLIANZ STADIUM
So if we hired a plane for a weekend, I reckon that would make a good one.
