Official Statement from Queensland Roar FC re: Player Contract Regulations Breach

FOLLOWING todays media release from Football Federation Australia (FFA) regarding Queensland Roar FCs Player Contract Regulations Breach, the following quotes can be attributed to Queensland Roar FC Chief Executive, Lawrence Oudendyk.

We fully recognise that there was a technical breach of the regulations, however it was not deliberate and resulted from an internal administration error.

Throughout the process with FFA we were entirely transparent and co-operated completely.

We have now implemented procedures to monitor our salary cap status on a weekly basis to eliminate the possibility of any future discrepancies.

We support the principle of the salary cap one hundred per cent and believe it is crucial to ensuring an even competition.

I did see something on another forum (Sydney) saying they had a small financial slap on the wrist, and it was actually last season.

I'll find a link to the thread.

cheers HN,

great quote - from a sydney poster

"ours was a technical breach, so can't see why the Pussycats should not be fined and docked".

so if lambs get 'docked', what would the equivalent surgical procedure be for Seo and his mates

Teams that breach player contract regulations should be fined and  lose points. That's how they would deal with it in the EPL (FROM NOW ON)!!

$7500 Fine Payable Immediately and $7500 Suspended Fine

Accounting Error my arse! You either breach the Salary Cap or you don't. Sounds like the FFA are remianing Consistanly Inconsistant with all their punishments this season.

Possibly a sweet deal offered as they are preparing to piss the Roar off and unveil the Gold Coast as one of the New Franchises???

I think in the NRL a few years back the Bulldogs breached the cap and lost around about 40 points, wouldn't it be fantastic if the Roar lost even a quarter of that ammount (not going to happen though).

Love it how they blame it on "an internal administration error". Like one of the data entry people accidentally "forgot" a couple of zeros somewhere.

They would have known exactly what they were doing.

i think that the dogs got stuffed 40 points because it was their 2nd or 3rd offence for the same thing plus they tried to hide some of the transactions as well which really pi$$ed off the nrl , this is like diversion for 1st offence stuff, if it was too happen again, i guess points would be deducted

The Warriors did the same thing in 2006 and started off the season with -4 points, as well as a sizeable fee. Wouldn't mind seeing the same thing happen to the Clogs.
